Looks like a 991 with the currently available Aerokit, which given 996 and 997 history, should not be a surprise - although personally I do not think it is an attractive design.
And, of course, centerlock wheels.

It's all speculation but +1 on the first point and I hope you're right on the second.....

how will you access the engine? will the wing fold upward w/ the hood?
at this pace, 20 in wheels will give way to 21s in about 5yrs. whats the freak'in appeal? blah blah blah.

Certainly the RS won't. Sure it's speculation, but with the 996 and 997 GT3 bodywork almost identical to the optional 911 Aerokit of the day, it seems very likely we are looking at a relatively undisguised GT3 here.
It should bode well for the GT3. Considering that the 991C2S is available with the Aerokit and similar drivetrain in the form of Powerkitted 9A1 and PDK, the GT3 will need to provide something very special to differentiate and justify its price.

I'm sure it's old news (I don't get to this forum that often) but I was surprised to read in one of the UK magazines this weekend that the 991 GT3 will have the 3.8l DFI engine (no Mezger) and PDK (no manual).

of course it will have DFI but why wouldnt it have a stick like the lesser, standard 991s?

Go back to some of the interviews AP gave during the launch of the RS and 4.0 where he discusses manual boxes in GT cars ... my recollection was that essentially it would be over his dead body that a GT car did not have a manual.
and ...
given the current 991 has that 7sp thing, I dont see why it would not also be offered on the GT3 ...

An unproven center lock system didn't slow sales down to the hordes of GT3/RS track rats I see on any given weekend. Personally I'd rather have my car break down than a wheel fly off. With that being said, Porsche isn't going to put out a GT3 motor that's a dud.
