'09 Z06 is a good car, i am very tempted to try one out and rebuild it into NASA complaint car for TT first, and then for racing. E46 based car is probably cheaper but i love those LS engines and really want to play with one.

GM bent their own internal engine durability standards with the Z06. It will not pass the same tests (30 hours at max output, if memory serves) that all other GM motors must pass. So piston popping isn't exactly unexpected...

Is the Mezger supposed to be the dead-end and final, never-to-be-improved-upon iteration of the Porsche competition flat 6? I don't think so; at least I hope not. There's always room for improvement.....

but, realistically, asian market will eat it all and demand even more and i do not think Porsche is overly concerned what USA market segment of owners who intend to track those cars will think as statistically it is not a meaningful segment for them. folks want blings so factory will give them blings.

Oh absolutely - the N/A 6.2 in the C63 and SLS is fantastic - but it is the swan song. Like BMW M, MB is phasing in warmed-over mainstream turbo engines throughout the AMG lineup.
