Well, I got tired of looking out my back window and not seeing sh*t but my wing ? You can't see cops behind you on the street or see who's behind you on the track ?
I finally got fed up enough that I had taller struts/stanchions/supports designed and fabricated.
These supports are 3 inches taller than OE, are one (1) inch lower than GT3 Cup supports
They fly in cleaner air and give much better rear visibility (comparison photo below)
They are designed and fabricated in the USA by a leading Aerospace & Technology company with clients like Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, etc, etc......
These supports are engineered using Catia & Solid Works software (photos below)
They are individually milled from .75X11.5X15.125 blocks of 6061-T6 PL Aluminium(photos below) andare milled on an OKK - VP600-5AX - 5-Axis Machining Center (photos below)
They have been fitted to a 4.0 (#396) to check for fitment and clearance of rear window when decklid is open(photos below)
These supports have been "real world" tested (for stability & vibration calibration) at 100mph(30 sec.), 125mph(20 sec.), 150mph(10 sec.), 175mph(5sec.) by an experienced FIA Grade A pro-driver.
These pieces have the quality, fit and finish of OE Porsche parts.
These are available in "Raw" form of finished in Silver as per OE specs.(photos below) and are available through Orbit (east coast) and a (soon to be announced) west coast distributor.
These supports are priced below OE Porsche parts at your dealer;
......3.8 supports (R)#997.512.682.90 (L)#997.512.681.90 $2,642 pair
......4.0 supports (R)#997.512.682.93 (L)#997.512.681.93 $1,887 pair
...... Baron RS4.0+3 supports $1,600 pair + shipping

It did read like an OrangeClean script for a while...
So to confirm, these uprights will work for both 3.8 and 4.0 wings? Let's get a groupbuy going!

If you're in a 4.0 on the track, there should be nobody in your rear-view mirror that you need to worry about. ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Cops on the street is a different story and something that's been bugging me.
Do you mind taking a picture from your rear view mirror (below) to see the clearance of the rear window from drivers perspective.
Thanks!

I can't imagine that Porsche would list two different part # and price if they are in fact the same parts. Rodger (Orbit) is going to check this out for me !
I will take a photo and post later.

nice work, someone needed to make these avalible ages ago. Glad someone stepped up to the plate.
These are a must have for 4.0 owners - not being able to see out the rearview sucks. Nice idea

Very nicely done indeed and I'd be happy putting that on SR-71s... I bet those would do well at 100,000 feet eh?
I didn't want to presume anything but since I'm a slacker and didn't get back to The Baron this weekend I hope we're still the "soon to be announced" West Coasters. If not I guess I'll have to just remove my rear view mirror since I'm NOT using these:

I had a feeling the factory ones were expensive so you're supposed to bump up the price- especially for you baller 4.0 guys!![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
On a serious note really nice to see something like this and on West Coast where we have to sit in traffic and reverse park our cars a lot it sure is going to be nice to have a functional rear window again. Even if it's not plastic

As requested by Tradervic, I took a photo of the rear view of of the center mirrior from the drivers point of view.
As you can see, the lower edge of the wing is barely visible which is noticably better then OE position blocks the view of EVERY vehicle that you can see in the background (pickup, Nissan, 5 Ton and dumpster).
None of these images are visible with OE wing supports !
