I have in writing that the first 991 GT3 production slot available from my dealer is mine. To get this guarantee, I was comfortable placing a nominal and refundable deposit so I really have nothing to lose....

Wow!!
I think Porsche CEO Matthias Muller, wasn't exaggerating at all when said, "the 991 derivatives - i.e. GT series - will contain some surprises"!

Based on the performance of the C2S, I can see myself in one of these for sure. Without the PDK and all of the handling trickery.
I hope on the new parts list is new coolant fittings. That is costing me 3k (+ other might as well do while engine is out goodies ) right now.

They´re going to change the wing in the final version of the car. This one is just installed for the testing... Don´t worry about that...

Is it me, or the rear brakes look bigger? I also noticed a beefier front caliper. Wheels are definitely 20", so track rubber is going to be a hassle for stock wheels. If the front brakes are growing in size as well, 18" wheels might no be an option any longer.
That rear decklid looks as a final product. It is actually a spoiler + a wing, very likely to produce more downforce than the 3.8 GT3.
The 991 body is ligther, the engine is also lighter, and the new manual tranny is lighter than the bulky 997 GT3 transmission. No idea what kind of power this 9A1 engine is going to generate, but the dyno numbers on the few 9A1 out there are uninspiring, 385Hp 9A1 engines putting 335 whp, while the 380hp 996 GT3 engine puts down 366whp.
I think Porsche is going to gain more from lower weight, PDK tranny, and higher downforce than from the engine itself with this new car. I wonder what MSRP is going to be, I bet $125k and up, due to the higher development costs they need to get back, something different to the GT3 from 1999-2011 where development costs were lower.
Enjoy the Gremlins of this Guinea Pig, a car with small development can have it all, this is what is keeping me away from the MP4-12C in the meantime, lots of unknown, and no people racing them in street trim.

My bet is that is not going to be the real wing. That font fascia and rear wing combo is currently available as an option on 991s called the 'aero cup kit'. I would hope that Porsche is going to offer something substantially different on a GT3 that you can't get on a Carrera 991.

There are shift paddles on the steering wheel in the photos above. Functional? Cosmetic? Who the hell knows. One thing is for sure, Porsche marketing called the press (cough official leak...cough cough) and had them "spy shot" a car. What a crock. Just do a press day with the mules like they did with that 3700 lb battery powered thing. Otherwise it is insulting really.
