Well, at 450 hp (assuming it is 450), that will match it to the genII RS 997, which is already a very mighty car. 40kg lighter than the standrd gt3 is fine, but is not going to be worth a huge amount. Suspension advancements maybe... the 996 gen 2 RS was technically an inferior car to the gen I 997 gt3, but in everyday use a lot of feedback was that the two cars delivered very similar track performance.

On top of that, if Porsche allows the 991 gt3 to eclipse the RS4.0, that will plummet the price of that car. Since the 4.0 is not very far from the 3.8, that tells me that the 991 gt3 will be very close to the 997 IIrs, with most of the improvement coming solely from the PDK

Just a theory anyway...

I don't think Porsche will really hold back on the next generation GT3 and RS in order to protect the performance of the 997.2 4.0. The 4.0 is awesome, but when has the company ever done that with new models ie. limited performance to protect the previous model. They've always outperformed the outgoing models. Why assume 450hp for the 991RS? That's what the 3.8 RS had. Keep in mind that with weight reduction and improvements, the 991 Carrera S matches the performance of the 997.2 GT3. I just drove the S. I think the GT3 RS will be amazing in 2015.
