wow! great build!

The only comment I'll make based off knowledge I picked up at the factory. All engines have 5% of hotness tolerance. Baseline plus 5%. zero minus.

Cheers & Best of Luck!

I don't know what the shear value is for the axles, but personally I would have replaced them on a OE GT2 anyways if I were to use launch control constantly. That and the diff cover...

Not my logic as much as Louis'. I primarily followed his lead on what he thought was appropriate for the vehicle they were assembling. At one point he was considering the GT2 RS mainshaft with 3.167 1st and 1.89 2nd. I came back to him with this option instead with 2nd dialed back a bit shorter than that. And I do think the extra torque of the new engine will make up for the rpm differences.

It never made 380+ rwhp like some out there have claimed for a stock .1GT3/RS. IMO this came from fiddling with dyno voodoo magic settings.
My RS made 396 rwhp due to the M&M header/exhaust custom system (I know that crappy M&M) and a conservative FVD tune.

My 996 GT3 (rated at 380Hp) did 366 whp on a Dynojet, and my 997.1 GT3 RS did 382 whp with a unhealthy engine (oil leaking crankcase).

You have a very weak 997.1 GT3 RS, so your new 4.2 might end up being less powerful than a stock 4.0RS, so bad, hopefully you can make 425 whp so you can keep up with Gold DE Cup drovers.

Awesome project. Those pistons/liners look very familiar.

Lol, what? He's getting a brand new engine. Nothing "before" matters.

Look at RSRanger's rpms at 45mph in 1st gear? That's the speed people were concerned about in certain corners on various Florida tracks, right?

And if he blows up either 1st or 2nd gear's dog teeth, he doesn't have to buy an all new shaft like he does on a car with a stock mainshaft with integral 1st and 2nd gear. He can use all 6 gears on track without fear of a massive repair bill because he zinged the teeth on an idler. So, he zings 1st gear from a bad downshift. Champion calls me up, gets a replacement idler, puts in some new synchros while he's at it and he's right back at it. He bought more than just pretty trinkets. He bought into a modular system.

I think the point of getting a dyno done is for Ranger to get a delta as he said in his earlier post. It's really pointless to start claiming who's engine is stronger and weaker if we're using different dynos albeit the same brand across different countries, states and in different conditions.

There are many (lots) of dyno sheets on 996 GT3, 997.1 GT3 and 997.2 GT3/RS on a dynojet, and a few less on Mustang and Dynapack dynos.

350whp on a dynojet for a 997.1 GT3 is way too low. This is a car that with driver, and full tank of gas gets close to 3,500 lbs (this is the way it is tested at most instrumented testings), it has a long gearset that hurts its narrow powerband, and still runs low 12s in the 1/4 mile close to 120 mph. There are 35 missing ponies from this number in the 997.1 GT3.

But it is easy to claim it makes 350whp, the same way my Fiat dyno'ed (a legit reading) 397whp at a Dynojet, and a few minutes later power went up, and it has been at the same dyno many times showing a nice variety of numbers.

If the new box can use 1st gear, things are vastly better, that means the bulky and massive mainshaft is being replaced, because it doesn't tolerate downshifting to 1st at speed. Except the race boxes, the street cars don't take the downshift to 1st happily, 2nd is a low as they can go on a racetrack, and we have too many tight turns at Daytona, Sebring and Homestead (our local tracks).

I'm no so lucky, my super powerful 996 GT3 ended up in Canada, and my super more powerful 997.1 GT3 RS ended up in Canada as well.

Gold DE Cup is fun!!!

Platinum DE Cup isn't fun, it is too fast and too scary, I have been there, people don't lift for Bishop bend, the get sideways at T17 in Sebring, they drive the Daytona bowl full gas before and after the bus stop, scary.

I like the Gold DE Cup better, and there are more drivers in this Cup too, so we can stage 10 cars together, run 3 wide everywhere, play rabbit, and run in what is considered by others as a supposedly unsafe DE.

I tried the Cup of Coffee at the last Sebring event, and it was very lonely, it was just the DeputyDog and me in my Fiat, Coffee Cup not fun, but it is colorful with Yellow and Red rather than all White cars.
