$270k for Savy's 4.0RS as-is is a steal, $235k stock is about market.

Movit Brakes: $30k
Akra full system: $12k
Rollbar, harnesses: $5k
Super nice and light Rays wheels: $8k
Mods==> $55k, take this down from $270k, and you're getting a 4.0RS for $215k a price that could have been market 6 months ago, but not today.

Anyone shopping for a 4.0RS right now with a $185k-$200k budget is dreaming.

...and prices are just going to go up for a while, especially with the next GT3 being a 991 Carrera S with a body kit and a power kit, plus Zero track proven performance.

4.0RS appreciating only help 3.8GT3 RS to appreciate as well, and they have done so. Try to find a $110k-$115k 3.8GT3 RS today.

I would agree, based on what is out there right now, it is a good opportunity.

Interesting option as well!

Mezger price appreciation on gen2 gt3's will continue until next Cup is confirmed to share engine with 991 gt3. There are rumours and fears that the 991 gt3 will have a carrera s engine, but nothing confirmed. Porsche has been very tight lipped on this subject. Their own staff know nothing.

Somewhat agreed, but I still don't think a 4.0 is $100K more than my 3.8.

At this price, I wonder if a GT2RS is a better buy or not.

I think Msrp can be had.
They are expensive enough to begin with.

At over $200k, I would go for GT2rs

With supply and demand this summer it appears 220s is as good as it gets.
Next summer prices should cool off one would think?? maybe 200 range or back to sticker worst case senario for current owners?

I recall the 997.1RS sold for above sticker and than slowly crept down below sticker to the point of being typical depreciation. (compared to sticker price of course).
Some of the original owners paid well above sticker so they took really big unanticipated hits during resale time...
Will the 4.0L repeat this?

If the 2013 991GT3 performance makes the 4.0L look like a base carrera than expect some owners to replace 4.0L with 2014 RS thus allowing 4.0L fans to buy used at resonable prices.

Since this is two years out, i think a 4.0L @225k is fair buy today as it is rare, very fast and looks great with 997 porportions.

Id take it over a GT2RS too
