Default FYI....PMNA caliper stud and nut kit

THIS THREAD IS MEANT AS A FYI FOR CORRECT PART NUMBERS AS WELL AS A DIY ON THE INSTALL

**edit...I plan to do a DIY with pics in a few weeks. I'll post that within this thread when it's done**

Just picked up my PMNA caliper stud/nut kit. I won't do the install until after the May VIR event with First Settler's Region.

Here is a pic of the 3 parts as well as part numbers

Cost for kit is ~$170-200 depending on how much markup your reseller is charging since the PMNA markup margin is VERY SMALL.

(8) nuts 999.076.083.01

(4) Rear Studs 999.061.004.02 for both 7.1 and 7.2 cars

(4) Front Studs 999.061.003.02 for 7.1 PCCB cars and all 7.2 cars
-or-
(4) Front Studs 999.061.007.01 for 7.1 non-PCCB cars

The rears look spot on however the front look to have a significant delta in size. The OEM bolts are from my 997.1 non-PCCB setup.

5/22 Update. It has been driving me nuts that I haven't installed these yet to confirm if they fit. The do NOT fit. The rears are perfect but the front are so short that they would be below the recess of the caliper! I contacted my parts guy at the dealer that orders my PMNA bits for me to figure out what went wrong. He verified with them that these were for a 7.1 non-PCCB car and they sent what I have in post #1. I'll update correct part numbers when I get confirmation.

5/22 Update 2. Just got the 999.061.007.01 studs ordered to swap out for the first set of fronts. These are 94mm and will match up with the stock bolts perfectly.

**NOTE...this caliper stud is a used stud. The new ones look just like the ones in the above picture. Virgin and with thread locker.**

Dell, did they give you any torque specs for tightening the bolts?

Just like wheel studs. Approximately 20 ft-lb.

I am not sure how accurate your number is, I have 63lb/ft in my notes.

Can anyone else confirm what the correct number is.

The STUDS are 15-20 ft-lb. The NUT is 63 ft-lb (like the caliper bolt). My guess is somebody gave you the 63 number based on the torque setting for a caliper BOLT.

Thanks Dell!
Does the stud end accept and use a hex key for installation?

Very welcome

No hex key insert. You will need to lock two nuts together much like installing wheel studs.

Thanks for the photo Dell. I'm still just flabbergasted on the nut pricing. I can understand the stud price but can't for the life of me understand what is special about those nuts. Just got to get over it and order some...

I agree. Nothing in the PCNA/PMNA pricing structure makes sense. But they should last quite some time unlike the caliper bolts which "technically" should be changed with each caliper removal. I've never followed that practice But just a couple caliper bolt set purchases and you can have a set of PMNA studs/nuts that will last many time longer. Plus, makes changing the caliper a snap with no guessing where to locate the bolt and risk stripping the threads.

I rationalize it that it's cheaper than a thread stripped wheel carrier

They're probably jet nuts, the expensive elliptically offset self-locking type.
