Camber is 3.5/2.5 respectively on hoosiers. Moving to NT01 as soon as last set of hoosiers is done. Will realign at that time.

The car is very snappy.
Is it possible your LSD is gone?

Shouldn't be. I have a relatively new guard in there.

Everyone likes a different setup that's for sure. The only time I ever had a snappy car was when my rear R888 tires had heat cycled out. But if your alignment is good, your tires are good and your rake is good, then you should re-try the OE bar for sure. And, if your car is snapping even with a Guard LSD then you definitely have an issue.

Our cars sound very similar, and I also know other GT3s with the gt2 that aren't snappy, so I can only offer that when you are re-doing your alignment for the NT-01 tires, have the shop check your ride height and rake and consider setting the rake for 20mm from the factory 25mm. I also think less rear camber with a 12" rim works for better traction.

Good luck

I installed my GT2 rear bar recently and now have 3 track days with it. So far it's doing exactly what I was hoping it would do - reduce the rather persistent understeer that I was experiencing with the stock setup. I have the bar set at full soft right now (still stiffer than the stock rear bar at full stiff).

The car now feels very close to neutral and turns in much better. It makes quick directional changes through chicanes with much less effort and it just feels more "natural". All this inspires more confidence, too, in the car and makes it easier for me to drive.

For reference the rest of my setup (for mixed street/track use) is:

Front bar (stock) one notch from full stiff
Front camber = -2.3 deg
Front toe = 0
Rear camber -1.8 deg
Rear toe = .2 deg
Tires = Michelin PSS

Even with factory rake -10 mm, unless you have a heavy locking LSD (You should) the car should be grippy enough in front to be fast with the bar full soft in front, unless you are going for fun and not lap time>>

Good to hear that there is another satisfied GT2 sway bar customer - and I think your alignment specs and tire choice are basically spot on for all DE/Street duty cars.

Someone should create an Alignment / Setup Sticky and use the above setup as the Combo DE / Street Spec

97.1 GT3 RS. Would these same alignment specs work well for my car? Is rear toe in or out? I run a lot on the street. Is not just a track car. Run PSS also and am installing the GT2 bar whenever I get off my lazy butt and do it.

Thanks for any advice.

I went the opposite way, with the 1313lb springs in the rear- swapped the rear sway bar to a 997.1 GT3 OE bar. Rear wheel bump compliance is slightly better, and that's saying a lot considering the crappy roads in lakefront Chicago. Bars are set at 1 off soft front, full soft rear at the moment. I'm hoping the swap will cure the overtly tail happiness of my car- the bar in it was the H&R rear bar which is considerably stiffer than this one.

Nick,

There is no question that picking the correct spring rates first and then using the least sways is the way to go. Your 1300# rear spring rate, with a stiffer that OE GT2 rear sway was no doubt an issue. But, for those with stock spring rates on an mk1, if push is their overwhelming issue, the slightly stiffer GT2 Bar on Soft, seems to be just enough to 'fix' most of the problem. I think your going to the mk1gt3 rear bar sounds like a great idea with that rear spring rate.

One correction on the info I reported here: My front bar is actually one notch from full soft (one hole in from the end of the bar). My memory was faulty here.

Ok what am I missing here. When I bought my GT3 came with GT2 rear sway bar in a box. Just pulled it out to install and there are only 2 holes/settings. Have read where some people put in the middle setting. What is the middle setting if there are only 2 holes? Part number is 99733370196. Checked and believe it is the correct bar. Help?!
