You are on at 6speed, go ask Champion, they are the experts.
I am no expert, don't know crap about Porsches, just happen to own one. I have NEVER used those words to describe myself although I have seen some truly moronic posts by people who think they are experts. They should put their money where their mouths are and open a firm to offer their services and expertise since they know so much.
If you think I am wrong or need to prove something to you, whatever, it doesn't matter to me. I'm not here to sell anything and I have nothing to prove to anyone. I don't design parts, make parts, or plagiarize designs by buying parts under false pretenses to reverse engineer aka copy like others here. Quite frankly, it's your problem not mine. If I say "xx" and you say "let me be clear, you said xx" I would call that doubting what is factual to me and requiring proof. I have no time for people calling me a liar, so if you want proof, go to the people who sell the parts and certify the performance yourself. Asking me how it makes power is stupid, all I did was write the check when the options were presented to me. Buy or don't buy stuff from TPC, AWD, Orbit, Champion, A.W.E., GMG, BBi, Vivid, EvomsIT, RSTuning or whomever, it's your money, take ownership of your own decisions.

Most of us like to come on here to either help people and share our knowledge or for advice, read others experiences and to research before we part with our hard earned money, not everyone has more money than sense mate.
No one ever called you a liar either, but if you have stated the power figures you have of 840whp then be prepaired to be asked to give us some V-box times if you have the time or are kind enough to help another fellow member out to make the correct decision like yourself in your eyes as maybe we are looking at taking the same route as you have but also know that alot of companies out their love to lie to make money and some do not!
If you cannot do that then it's fine no problem just say no instead coming out with the most ignorant, arrogant, condescending comments that you have made which unfortunately make you like a total *** IMO and others too.
Your car might be cool but you are not do you get me?
Apologies to Toby for crapping an amazing and inspiring thread but I had to say something!

I have got a diagram for controlling normal type wastegates with VTG solenoids,
but havent tested it on any car yet..
On Garrett builds we are using external boost controller. (featuring Boost by speed, boost by throttle, boost by RPM)

Don't be too hard on Mr W, he is a big dog apparently and likes to dip in and out at being an "expert" when it suits .
As far as I am concerned his engine probably does make its dynoed 800+hp (to the crank BTW, to the wheels is totally ludicrous) but only as far as top of 4th gear, too much back pressure in the GT2VTG exhaust housing (which creates too much heat and then knock) to make any more power when loaded for the duration or 5th and 6th.
Obviously if he could show a set of Durametric numbers all the way to 200mph which show differently (ie 800+hp type acceleration and all the vitals in the green) then one would sit up and take notice but for now he has paid for and got a very fast (according to him) sub 140mph car which is great and if he could just resist from occasionally posting sh*te then he could be left to enjoy it.
Re the electric wastegate, yes it is something new RS are trying and it is on the "old style" non VTG turbos with internal wastegates although these latest K24s seem to have come a fair way for my 993 days
I read the benefits from the blurb but practically speaking the benefits for me means all the 997 electronics can work in the exact same way as stock meaning all safeguards with the boost being able to vary very accurately with the various temperature inputs.
In reality in driving I'm not certain it would make a big difference to a system like WhiteKnight has been using but one would hope it should be the optimum solution for a non VTG turbo.
My pal GT on here has warned me that the Sportec 750-800hp K24 GT2 is not a nice drive and I have seen the 750-800hp 9ff cars in action and they have ridiculous lag before mega power.....
The combo of 8% more capacity, properly controlled variocam system with specific street biased cams (based on Alzen 6GT2 race engine), state of the art K24 with correctly sized exhaust manifold, back pressure from valve switchable xhaust systems with cats (not sure if this makes any difference but should have some effect off boost) and of course the EWC providing best and smoothest boost control - all these things when accurately and expertly tuned on the test stand should add up to a unique engine with its own lag charactaristics.
It will be way different to VTG but I am hoping with the less sudden onset of the torque it should make the car better able to put the torque (and more of it) to the pavement...

Apparently the engine is alive in its new configuration but the EWC is not playing ball with the 997 electronics yet but I'm told some new electrical parts have been ordered....
Whilst musing about the lag and response of the new K24 set up compared with the old VTG I put some numbers in excel and came up with the graph below.
The red line is straight from my VTG engine dyno final sign off test and the blue one is for a race 996 turbo motor built to the same spec as mine with K24s, it didn't have the 997 variocam system or this new wastegate control.
This graph cannot describe throttle response unfortunately but interesting all the same.

Once the roads warmed up the road testing could begin, the motor was leaning out at higher loads something it wasn't doing on the engine dyno.
New pumps (3 of them) were fitted but problem remained, engine came back out of car and back on engine dyno, problem not there. Took a while to sort and I don't know what the issue was (but will find out).
Picking up car next week - it's been 6 months
