Alex, Dan and James: Thanks for spending an hour with me, showing me around, and talking about Porsches. A special thanks to Dan for the ride in Kermit. I was absolutely blown away by the sound, smoothness and the extra pull of your 3.9 from 7500 rpm to 8800 rpm. It is clearly the cams, light weight parts, and the ECU tune. You guys deserve all the accolades and recognition you have received and more.

Here are a couple of pictures of the 2001 RGT. I have also attached a picture of a "real" Guard Dog

He needs to lose about 20 LBS, and I am not talking about the car. Have you met Alex's Dog? She is no mre than 15 LBS, fully wet.

PS Anyone seen the footage of Senna at Suzuka helping with the NSX?
Honda got it right with the NSX, IMO the most influential, revolutionary, game changing sports-car of it's time. It made all the European auto manufacturers rethink everything.

You mean this one:

Senna had some peculiar techniques -- looks like his own version of traction control (pulsing the throttle) and willing to risk a spin by forcing understeer. But whatever he was doing, that particular NSX was handling like a pig.

Be safe at the track and I want to measure the thickness of your mega rotor at least three times this year
Speaking of diffs, two days at Thunderhill this weekend and the car is pretty well sorted. I need a smidgen less camber in the rear, but otherwise, the most notable weakness was again the LSD. I was pacing behind a modified 997.1 GT3 with shorter 3rd, 4th and 5th with a Guard 40/60 LSD. The 3.6 GT3 was getting more acceleration out of the turns where the 3.8 RS was traction limited (both running Hoosiers) such as T3, T5, T6, T11. Stability under brakes was disconcerting and the little yellow circular arrow made frequent appearances at T1 and T10 as the tail moved around.

You're so welcome! It was a fun break on a busy Friday, it's always nice to step out of the shop and into Kermit for a little drive.

Great color on the RUF, I've always loved the RGT. As some people here know, I'm a big fan of the 996 GT3

I would never have guessed judging by your avatar and the grin on your face from "performing" for the camera this day:

But on the plus side Canada will be seeing this sort of thing soon

We have already replaced/strengthened a few 11GT3RS LSDs Apparently not much better.....

And for the OP, with all this talk of possible track activity a change of plan again and the diff is going out

I'm curious to know the cost and the options. Is it still possible to "rebuild" the Porsche gears with a Guard LSD pack? Is that failure prone? I recall it costing considerably more to replace the planetary gear assembly with the "complete" Guard assembly, but the benefit is meant to be "bullet proof" strength.

Perhaps Matt can chime in and point to a previous post/answer on this topic or maybe you have the details?

Price is also relevant, especially in terms of reversing the process since I want to keep the hardware for the next car if that's a financially viable route.
