Default WTB: Center Lock Wheels GT3RS fitment

In no huge hurry but I thought I'd post that I'm looking for some Center Lock wheels for my incoming GTS. The GTS is a wide body so GT3RS wheels will work.

So far for buying new I've liked the OZ forged, GMG, BBS E88 and HRE CL40 monoblock. Forgeline has a couple of 19" CL's 3pc wheels too.

I'm strongly leaning to get 19" this time around because there now seems to be more drive to the track r-comp tires in 19" than 18". With 18" I have left over RA1's and that supply will be or is dried up or R888...that is it. With 19" they are more money but I still have R888's but also have MPSC, Pirelli Corsa and Trofeo and I could do Hoosier R6's later if I trailer or get a storage unit near the track. Also some have reported that the Bridgestone RE11 is as good as the Toyo R888...so more choice with stock sized 19".

If anyone has any of the above wheels let me know.

Thanks Mooty....it's suppose to arrive mid August...firmer date in a few weeks.

Anyone have access to be able to check and see it the hubs on the GTS and GT3RS are the same?

CarreraGT and I were talking and he brought up a good point. On Tire Rack they do not list any wheels for the GTS. However since the GTS is a wide body car I thought that any center lock wheel that fits the Turbo S and GT3RS...both wide body cars....would also fit the GTS.

thanks!

I'm starting to have that problem with my 18" track tires Seems like the rear diameters are too small for use with the 997...

Good luck with the search Mike!

Yes on the Nitto's the 315/30/18 needs a 255/35/18 for the same front and rear size diameter ratio as stock. You might be able to shove the 265 Nitto in there. I know I've seen that on the Turbo cars at the track. Although Cello on these forums runs a 997S with the Nitto's as the back being smaller than the front and says there are no issues. go figure huh?

Sin, when you run out of RA1's try the R888 in 255/35/18 and 315/30/18. That is what I was running.

I just got a new rear set of RA1's today.

I don't want the car to go on "ice mode" and end up in a wall...

I may swap to R888 like you said on my next set like you said. The trip back to Miami was really scary with the rain last time!

See that is the problem I had with RA1...they need to be shaved to work great..full tread on RA1 sucks...takes at least DE days to wear them down. However shaved you only get X amount of days until they look like a slick. Then as a slick you are running on very little rubber and they over heat easy and if it rains you are stuck on the side of the road.I got the same amount of days out of R888 full tread to wear marks plus if it rains I have a tire I can drive on.

+1! Full tread feels loose and soft. It takes about 2 days to get them worn out enough for track duty.

How many DE days do you usually get out of the R888 until they become sloppy?

OP - with all the "CL issues" and complaints, I'm surprised that you went with the CL when they are deletable for 5 lug on the GTS. As someone on the fence with this issue and the GTS (looks vs. convenience), what was your thought process?

Thanks. R/

I would not assume that the GT3RS or even the GT3 fitment is the same as the GTS.

The wheel sizes on the GTS are 8 front and 11 rear.

Get the GTS wheel specs with offset, and be careful-----the wheels ain't cheap

mdrums, it would seem the wheel sizes on the GTS are 8.5x19 ET56 and 11x19 ET51...

Amazingly, contrary to your assumption, it seems the NB GT3 sizes would fit your car best... The GT3 has 8.5x19 ET53s and 12x19 ET63s...

The fronts would sit 3mm wider than your OEM wheels with the same increase in clearance to the springs. The rears would sit 1mm wider but extend inward 25mm. Assuming you don't rub springs at the rear, GT3 sizes are your best bet...

The RS offsets are 9x19 ET47 front and 12x19 ET51 rear... Compared to your car, they would sit 9mm wider upfront and 13mm wider at the rear...

Use an offset calculator to better understand what effect the offsets will have like this... http://www.1010tires.com/wheeloffsetcalculator.asp

Find a friend with a GT3 and ask to do a wheel swap to check clearances when your car arrives... The hubs will be the same in terms of how they seat the wheels...

As for brand, I've gone with the OZ superforgiatas... They arrived at my local tyre shop today. Should pick them up next wednesday... You know what not to buy I hope

Good luck...

I get around 5days from the rear then they are way past the wear bars. They get to the center wear bar at de days 3 ont he rear, fronts looks great. The R888 at full tread is way better than RA1 full tread after 1 de. DE days 2-4 are really good then 5-6 the start to fall off, nothing really bad, then around de day 7-8 they get replaced.

The GTS has the same tub as a RS I believe

It does not have teh same front track width as a RS

Maybe a hybrid of normal GT3 front rims and RS back

You need to figure out if teh spindle is in teh same position for RS and GTS

Wife won the battle....also I watched Izzone and a guy with a GT3, both pitted next to me 3 weekends ago change out center lock wheels. No real big deal to them or me. I talked at length with Reter (Trakcar) from this forum at length and no big issues from him either. My dealers tech who does de's and is out tech inspector showed me the process too. These are guys I know and trust and are great track friends of mine. I truely think that the CL thing was blown out of porportion on a internet forum with a lot of banter from guys who don't even have CL's. The only difference with the so called new CL nut is less printing on it. The guys I mentioned above have 2 years tracking on the old CL nuts with no issues. It's the guys who buy the car from the dealer and never ever re-check the CL nut torque that had issues.
