ditto on the GMG. They make both a 18 and 19 and are TUV certified. I have the 18s for the track

need to revisit this.

what about the 19" BBS racing wheels? I see that everyone likes the 18" BBS 3-piece, but what about the 19"? I would think brake clearance is better since the 18" is a little tight.

Clearance wise the 19s would be fine regardless of brand... The reason most guys on here like the 18s is because of the tyre options with slicks....

I have the cheap OZ Ultraleggera's and love them. You cannot beat the price (around $600 on tire rack), can track the hell out of them (4 days so far), and they still look good on the car. The boys at the dealer weighed them for me when we mounted the tires and we found them to be a little lighter than the stock wheels. All in all, I'd say they're awesome.

Since Adam is neglecting this thread, I will post up some pictures and info. Front is 19lbs, rear is 22lbs so comparable to some of the lightest other wheels out there. Fit and finish look excellent and the barrel of the wheel is really dished out to help clear the biggest of big brakes.

Not really neglecting insomuch as I have the formaggio's on the car and I've had two days at the track.

I can't (yet) encourage others to buy this particular wheel until OZ resolves an issue; the thickness of the wheel hub (thickness behind the centerlock conical surface) is not the same as the factory wheel.

Also, the offset (relative position of outside wheel rim/tire bead location) is more outboard than factory. I'm asking OZ to determine whether this is their design spec or if it's a mistake in the wheels I've received.

I like the build quality. If I had more time, I'd order the darker "matt black" finish -- the light "race gray" finish is a little bland.

Also, OZ Racing advertises the superforgiatta with "carbon fibre hubcap" (dust cap) but these were not included with the wheels, so I'm asking them to fix that mistake, too.

Savy, how come you picked up a set of the OZ's? just want to try something new after the tech 1 wheels? I really like these OZ wheels, but for how much they cost, I would have to consider other wheels as well.

I need a new track wheel for my GTS with Center Locks. I've got some time to think this over as the car will not be here until mid August and my next track day is not until late September.

I always ran my Carrera S cars on CCW 18" with Toyo RA1 and R888 245/40/18 and 305/35/18 and recently I went with 255/35/19 and 315/30/18 to lower the car a little and gear it down a little. Honestly it is hard to tell any differnce on the track between the to except the 255/315 lower profile does not seem to move around as much as the higher profile 245/305's.

So...I can cheap out and get the $2600 OZ cast 19" Center Locks or pay $4500+ for forgers 18' OZ's, Forgeline, HRE, GMG wheels????

Should I stay with 18" or go with 19"? I've never run the track on 19's before.

I drive the car to and from the track....so with 18" I'm now stuck with Toyo R888 or try to find some 4 year old left over RA1's which soon will be all gone. OR go with 19" and run stock sized R888 or MPCS or Trofeo which all cost more a lot more than the R888.....

Thoughts and opinons please!

Buy a tire trailer, I sent you the 335 RA1 link.....buy stock of those

I think Andrew is going the opposite way....heard he is going to 20", to match his touch screen navigation

mdrums: You should consider the Kuhmo V710 tires. Mikymu used to run these on his .1 RS. I've recently seen others in the paddock with them as well. They are durable, you can drive them to/from the track, and they don't seem to heat cycle out like a Hoosier.

I wish that I had waited till GMG had 18" wheels in stock. There is a much deeper selection of tires in the 18" size vs: the 19".

And... more importantly, what tire have you got there on those OZs?!?!?!!! Kinda almost can make out the Hoosier logo there. LOL

On my 07 RS I used OZ Superleggera - no issues with 100 odd track days. On the 2010, I am happy with my 18 inch Forgelines after about 60 track days. US made and parts are available easily if repairs are needed.

Yep those Kumho's seem to have a size that works...but they are really slicks....if I hit rain on the drive home I'm stranded. I'd like to try them though.
