I need a set of track wheels for a 2010 RS (19 inch centerlocks.)
Nobody seems to have stock. Champion has some inventory, but they're spendy and I need track wheels to beat up, not shiny road wheels.
What's the current experience with the O.Z wheels at tirerack?
They just added an O.Z. quattro formaggio or superforgiata at twice the price of the ultraleggera ... once you add tpms sensors and Hoosiers, it's about $7500 for four corners ... that's a tiny bit expensive, so I'm hesitant to just slide the paypal card and see what happens.
Is anyone already running the O.Z. Superforgiata Centerlock?

Doesn't seem to be much in the price between good, old five slug and centerlocks.
The problem with the superforgiatta is it's twice (!) the price of the ultraleggera. For the track, I'd much rather buy a light, strong forged wheel, but at twice the price?

The price for the Superforgiatta is actually not bad, considering it's a high-quality forged wheel that is a centerlock. The Ultraleggera is NOT a forged wheel. It's made via "low-pressure" casting. I read that to mean zero pressure (well, room pressure at what ever altitude the factory is located). Cast metals are highly subject to porosity (small voids, typically caused by air bubbles). At least high-pressure casting helps to get rid of the air bubbles. These voids mean the material is not homogeneous and therefore not nearly as strong as billet. Forging is when you take a billet and smash it between two mold halves under tremendous pressure. It compresses the heck out of the material and actually makes the metal stronger.

BTW: OZ wheels are awesome! They make most of the wheels for the F1 teams. I actually was going to buy the Superforgiattas, but at the time I was buying (er, absolutely needing them!), they were still a month or so away from release.

Wow, those superforgiattas do look great! Anyone have pics mounted on a GT3 or RS? I think I "need" a 3rd set of centerlocks, and these might be the ticket. Just need to run it by the finance department.

I have two sets of the Ultraleggera's. About 10 track days so far, no issues. I am pleased with the price / performance ratio, two sets with tpms sensors came in at just under 6k.

Is CCW making a CL wheels yet? CCW always has great prices and forged quality. I have seen a few of the OZ cast CL's at the track and have not seen any issues with them. Plenty of guys run other cast wheels at the track from OZ Porsche and no issues.
