Default 2010 GT3-Price depreciation prognostication

I want to buy a 2010 GT3. I have learned from the school of overpaying , that if I wait a while, I can get the car I want for 40% off with all the bells and whistles.
So the question I now have is when do think a low mileage 2010 GT3 can be obtained for the 80-85Krange?

IMHO, I think the current market is $100k for 997.2 nicely outfitted GT3's. Plus/minus $5K.

07-08 997.1 are lower than 85K on averge. So I would guess 2 years... Since nothing comparable will come out and the economy will improve.

the same amount of time as the 997.1 GT3.

so about 4 years. (or when factory warranty expires)

i wouldnt wait 4 years for anything in this lifetime.

Since we are heading into a period of no new GT3's for a couple years (until 991's comes out), I suspect all mk1 and mk2 prices to be fairly stable for the next years or so. Plus with summer right around the corner, demand will increase, as all those prospective buyers that were in hibernation all winter are now looking to buy. I'd say if you can't afford a mk2, get a mk1.... for GT3 vs. GT3, you could get a few aftermarket parts and make up any difference.

Looks that I will just try to find a lower mileage .1 towards the end of the year for around $75k instead, I cant justify spending $100k. Also, maybe the economy does improve, but not counting on it...still seems very slow to me.

I'm gonna guess, soon after they announce next generation GT3 with 4.0L, 500hp motor. Even in current (and last year) economy (which cannot be called good years), people are still buying .2 RSes like piece of cakes so economy role is rather small, imho.

The odometer is the deciding factor -- if you want low miles on a yearly average or market basis, you're going to be at the high end of the price scale. The low end is probably $100K today, perhaps $90K this time next year. The high end probably another year, call it 2013 for the actual selling prices to get into the $80K range. 2013? Who knows what will happen by then. Either reconsider what you can afford today or love the one you're with.

100k vs 85k what is the big difference? you will have a car now vs 2 years from now....remember even when you buy it is only going to devalue everday, and everytime you drive it...you might as welkl enjoy it today vs 2 years from now when thwre is something much better out to think about...

Thanks for the commenrts.Youguys have pretty much came up with how I was thinking.
I would buy a .2 now IF I could get a good example for 100K as mentioned in the above post. That doesn't seem to be too easy as yet.

This is a very good questions with interesting opinions from everyone... I think the amount of miles on the car will effect price more than the economy... I think people that buy/have GT3's are less effected by the economy than others. I personally am hoping to find one for around $90k late summer next year with 10k miles or less... I guess only time will tell!

Do it Sam!!

Agreed that economy is a lesser factor, but upside on prices only.

Mileage is very sensitive to the price. Any ideas why so many barely used GT3s around? Never understood that.

Too many posers that find the car too harsh in everyday life once they get it. They drive it on weekends for a few years and then sell putting less than 10k miles on them. BTW-they are usually the cars that are optioned to the hilt.
