I've bought about 20 cars in my life and think I test drove one or two before buying. Basically, any car I think is decent enough to buy doesn't require a test drive (at least by me).

I bought my original 2004 GT3 sight unseen and repeated with the 3RS. The only vehicles I have test driven are daily driver sedans and other lower end family cars. Cars that are good enough to appear on the cover of Evo do not require a test drive (by me) ..

On a related note, the M3 poster that published those comments should take some remedial car evaluation lessons ..

I would, and I have. Heck, didn't even see the car. But I knew that all the love on Rennlist couldn't be wrong. That was enough for me.

In the end, that's what it's all about.

I would not need a test drive to put money down on a Porsche GT3 RS.

I bought both my 997.1 GT3 and my 997.2 GT3RS without test driving or riding in either of them. If you are considering buying a GT3 you should know what to expect.

I don't think the guy on the M3 board did his homework.

I bought my new 2010 GT3 without a test drive, and I didn't even see the car in person until my dealer shipped it to my driveway.

I am a Porschephile and have own Porsche cars since 1980's, so I knew quite well what I was expecting. I always buy from reputable dealers that I trust, and they always exceed my expectation.

Regards,

I did not test drive or ride in any GT3 before I ordered mine.

If GT3/RS is good for everyone here, it is more than enough car for me too.

Both of my last two Porsches were ordered prior to public release, and although I did drive them around the block before signing on the dotted line, it was more to detect any quality control issues than eliminate any doubt with my initial decision.

This guy seems educated enough to know what he ordered (great options - exactly what I would have done) and what he has. Sounds like he just has some buyers' remorse, which is understandable coming from another great, although very different, performance car. With some time, he will come to appreciate the RS for what it is...or maybe an ideally spec'd RS will come on the used market!

Didn't test drive mine.

I based my decision on how amazing our 2 Boxster Ss were, everything I learned on RL and knowing I wanted the closest thing to a street legal race car - that I could actually drive. I was looking for that 1950's/1960's drive a car to the track, race it and drive it back thing.

Never test drove the 6gt3 when I bought it. Rest assured would do the same on ne new gt3. Used ones of coarse. Mike
