Default LA Auto Show - Porsche 2010

Went to the preview of the LA Auto Show last night which was WELL attended.
Nice part of the show was the amount of "PORSCHE" ties in attendance
and your questions could be answered!

Featured cars were:

GTS
Speedster
GT2RS
Cayman R

Got to see old friends including Pete who came down from up North and Colm.

Ever wonder why we can't get a roll bar? I finally got an answer...
Even tho the car only has two seats the Fed sees it as four (the Carrera model line) and exit would be compromised....hence no roll-bar. Thats the short answer

How does the Speedster look in person with all the blue inside and out?

That's the closest thing I've heard to a real reason yet.

Yep, good to see friends there

I gave the PCNA marketing manager an earful regading the Cayman R. A truly shameful attempt to foist a lackluster parts bin exercise onto enthusiasts as a specialty car.

On the other hand, the GT2RS was truly yummy and delicious to be seen in person. Lots of carbon fiber bits and pieces.

Otherwise a lot of people turned out for the event.

Lots of carbon fiber bits and pieces.
Are they all std equipment or optional?
I assume outside carbon bits are std, inside optional?

Brian ~ was Detlev Von Platen there?... If he was, did you manage to share some insights with him?

PCNA/Porsche: great way to close the guest list and shun some of your "VIP" customers!

^...They shun all of NAIAS by pulling out of the show permanently because they were to move to another space....

The first weight reduction in the GT2 RS will be to remove the metal hood latch assembly. There's a couple pounds.

Sadly Porsche never bothers to fill out the paperwork to use the available US-spec DOT approved lightweight window glass (which I think is a polycarbonate.)

Are you serious!?!?!?! THE biggest show in N. America. God, if true, someone at PCNA/Porsche needs an ***-kicking!!!!!!!

PS: But I guess, the customer doesn't matter when they know they have a great product and people keep coming back. At least I do! ~ but tired of the "customer experience."

Exactly my thought when I bought carbon hood. Thought about using cup pins instead but I am afraid to drill it.

Btw it looks that they changed supplier and construction method for hood.
Completely different than 996RS one. Looks bulky. I hope someone will weigh it at some point. Very curious how they compare.
The oem lid of 7 is much lighter than 6 to begin with.

It does sound sufficiently brain-dead, idiotic, raving moron, red tape, dickless bureaucrat, lunatics have taken over the asylum" to be something the US Department of Transport would do.
