Take it to Sharkwerks, they'll take care of you. Just don't let them talk you into a new exhaust because then you'll be too loud for Laguna Seca.

Sharkwerks was my first choice but they're booked solid. I had them install the center bypass within the first month of having the car, now I have to figure out a way to keep the noise down

Had mine done preemptively as it was high on my list when i bought the car. 997.2 gt3 47k miles. Tech said he pulled three of them out with his fingers with ease. Yikes! Definitely happy i had mine done. Bought the BBi kit, along with the Sharkwerks elbows and had them welded in along with a ton of other items while it was out. If anyone needs a place in Western NY to have theirs done, Eksten Autoworks is the place to go.

Just a reminder to get these done if you are going to the track. This past weekend I instructed at our local club track and a novice student (first time to any track) in his 997.1 gt3 lost a coolant line. I was in a students car and he was the first through the mess afterwards. Coolant was dumped in the braking zone of a fast corner. Student went to brake and obviously nothing happened. We went right off, thankfully he was not going terribly fast. Three other cars behind us went off, one of which was a GTI which got airborne and ended up finding a tire wall which caused a fair amount of damage to the GTI. The GT3 owner was completely oblivious to the coolant line fitting issue. Scary stuff.

For many of us, we are getting ready to store our GT3's for winter. This is a great time to think about doing coolant lines if you're planning on going to the track next year or even if you're not and just want to give yourself some peace of mind on the street from being stranded, or worse spinning out or causing someone else to behind you. While we don't know yet if it was a 996/997 that caused this accident, I think it's safe to assume it was, which is unfortunate. Likely could have been prevented with pinning/welding.

The glued coolant bung ISSUE with the Metzger is very real.
The engine is as tough as an anvil except for this very atypical (and unforgivable IMO) weakness.
Having these welded or pinned should be MANDATORY for all track events on 996/997 GT3s.

Agreed. I will not go to a track until mine are done. This new story further solidifies that. What a tragedy at the Nürburgring.

We're lucky that our cars don't have an issue like rod bearings (E39 M5/E46 M3/E92 M3) or headbolts (W204 AMG engine). This issue is around $2500-5k to resolve, depending on where you're located to have an engine that should last you for many years to come. Was well worth it for even my street driven car, but I understand those that don't want to do it for street driving. For track, it should be mandated. I think for some of the local PCA regions, they either require pinning or water wetter.

COV (Cross over Valve) to PDK oil/water heat exchanger exploded - towed car home
Repair - Option 1 replace plastic COV with OEM plastic COV; Option two - bypass COV with straight aluminum tube and seal off vacuum line to COV (equivalent to valve always open)

I did Option 2 - does anyone know why there is a COV in this water circuit?

I have a really stupid question: Is there a way of knowing if your lines are pinned by simply looking into the engine bay?
I bought my .2RS from John Wright at PNH 2 years ago with 1900 miles on it. I now have 3930 miles on it and I am somewhat worried about the hose coupling failure problem. I do not track the car, just use it for recreational driving on regular roads.
