but the failure happened first. Fortunately i was only a 10 Min drive from my house and I was able to go home and pick up my truck and trailer and bring the car home with out a tow bill. I Sent the parts to BBI to be welded.
I'm doing a laundry list of things while I'm in here... I would much rather drop this money on Mods and performance items but that is how is goes.
Would you share your exact failure? Which fitting and was it leaking or a complete separation. thanks!

Sadly joined the club.
i was told when I purchased my car the coolant lines were addressed.
I even have documentation that the customer requested coolant line pinning be performed when previous owner had clutch replaced.
The Porsche dealership never did it.
i discovered that the hard way after my 1st track day, but thankfully occurred after arrival home

Year: 2007
Model: gt3
Mileage: 52k
Circumstances surrounding failure: after 1st track day
Specific Coupling: coolant line completely separated
Repair Solution: pinning coolant lines

^^^^^ Ouch! Well at least it happened at home and not on the track.

Thnx Spyerx. Subscribed. ... Seems there were a ton of posts to this thread back in 2014-2016, but then slowed down a lot in 2017 & '18.

New to me 997.2 GT3 with 10k miles. When I get the car back, plan to look & see if this has been done yet or not.

Prefer to be pro-active, even though do not plan to track.

Coolant lines strike again. Happened yesterday... to a 997 Turbo right in front of me. Luckily we were both driving relatively slow and in a straight line. All of a sudden I saw a steam explosion in front and coolant spraying all over my windshield. The poor owner didn't even know what happened. And the thing is, neither of us was pushing hard, so for anyone who thinks this only affects track cars under strenuous conditions, think again! It's not a matter of if but when. Pin or weld your lines people.

Pound sand? Or whatever the equivalent phrase is in German? If you go through this thread + the others on the issue owners have tried to turn it into a recall. The US DOT even has a document for the problem based on the work of RL'ers but it never turned into a full-on recall:

What are people paying to have this done? $3k or so? I saw Mooty mentioned $5k, just wondering if that is typical, or California pricing.

Around 5 k with everything around for safety & refresh. Our cars getting old. Not designed to last forever. I'm in deep.. They are special- my only rationalization.

5k welded. Not sure if there is a difference for pinning. I'm in south florida. I'm at 25,000 mile havent done my pumpkin yet. Waiting until i have to drop the motor. I dont track the car anymore so I'm less concerned for now.
