Done deal! Just placed my deposit for the GT2 RS GT3 RS GTS RS 4S GT. Should I post my build sheet here? Y'all gonna envy my copious downforce with the quad wings!

These models were all in development long before VW's takeover.

I was also counting the regular GT2 which isn't listed on there anymore. If there is a GT3 RS 500 then there will be 22!

204k is nuts. This said 150k: http://www.autoweek.com/article/2010...ARIS/100929985

With ceramics and all that's not so bad, but dealers would probably do a market adjustment to 200k anyway!

Talk to me about the LSD getting fixed. And the flexy brake calipers. And the pop-out water fittings on the engine. That will wake me up.

Sorry, going back to sleep...zzzzzzzz
+1 to all the above.

I saw the PCNA press release -- it says MSRP is $204k. But hey, no upcharge for Carrara White this time (according to this same press release)!

$200K is out of order. I think $150K if it has PCCBs and the X51 Power Kit, it's well equipped for the dollar. I'm keen to know more about it. I doubt it's for me, but if it's still functional rear seats, if it's lighter and available in AWD with the Power Kit, it could be great and it could be a car to drive sparingly for a year or three and then see what the 991 holds.

Of course, the real "cost" is in retained value. Forget the cost of opportunity by having another $50K absent from your investment portfolio, that's chicken feed and if you can seriously afford a Speedster, you lost millions in the crash, so that $50K is only a dent in your wine cellar budget. If the Spyder is built to order with no limit, it will conform to resale averages of the Boxster. If the Speedster is built only to 356 cars, it's place in history is assured by definition, but what that place holds in terms of future investor appeal, well, surely that's a story to unfold no sooner than five or ten years hence and perhaps thirty years if the real high points take shape. I think the GT2 RS is the real apex and we're yet to see if the new GT3 RS is the apex or just a foothill to the final highest point. In any case, I don't see how these cars, with none of the circumstances which bring "investment grade" fortunes can be considered for anything beyond personal enjoyment.

I used to hill-climb a muscle car. It was about 450hp, but I doubt it was as light as 2900lb. Maybe. Doubt it. Anyway, the spec on the Panamera in race car trim is pretty impressive. Not something I want to drive, but it's clearly competitive as a touring car. And I think we have to "brace" ourselves for the inevitable "sport" versions of the Panamera, but let's hope they all arrive in a shorter body, two-door.

totally agree!

I think that a Panamera GTS is likely and will probably be pretty nice to boot!

Maybe like the Cayenne GTS they can improve on the somewhat "polarising" styling of the Pana ...

I'd like to see Porsche do more more racing (although I dont think this car is factory supported) ...

I also think there is no harm in Porsche doing these specials, very few other car companies do them, and if it makes Porsche more money by doing so and making a few people happier by owning such cars I dont see why "we" should be so concerned ... it might make it easier for Porsche to make more focused cars such as the GTs ...

I for one, if I did not own, or want a GT car, would certainly look at either the GTS or the Speedster as an option ...
