Default The new 997 GTS

Really? More S, Not quite GT3.

Porsche customers are going to walk into the dealer and say I would like a 911. The sales rep responds, great - "Would you like a 911 Carrera, or an S, 4, 4S, Targa 4, Targa 4s, Cabrio, Cabrio S, Cabrio 4, Cabrio 4S, GTS, GTS Cabrio, Sport Classic, GT3, GT3RS, GT2, GT2 RS, Turbo, Turbo S, Turbo Cabrio, or Turbo S Cabrio?"

Buyer.... Ummmm (blank stare), ummmmm........................

well you know the answer on this particular board, it's one of two choices really ... both of which have a 3 in the model name, occasionally a 2 for the well heeled amongst us, or Jason Staham !

This GTS, I would think is going to **** off some Sport Classic buyers big. This cars seems almost identical minus that bubble roof and of course some $130ishk cheaper!!!!!

Did I just hear some money falling?

Well, are we all just over paying for everything? the better deal is to get a gt3 and just strip it. A not so bad deal is a stripped gt3rs. After that we're just paying for unnecessary luxury or personalization options. Imagine loading up the gts with performance options, I'll bet that the price tag is close to the base price of the gt3.

What the heck was the sport classic anyway? That paint job must have cost $100k

seems like the ultimate "S" 911 ... if you are in the market for an S you might as well get a GTS ... depending on price ...

I suppose some GT3 drivers might downgrade ...

Is the Sport classic available with PDK? If not, that would definitely p-off those who wanted PDK...

GT3 drivers might think of it as an upgrade when they get smoked by one on the track ... : )

Is there an AWD version of the GTS?

ps. first mod: take off the "GTS" and show some respect for history.

pps. Excellent Ken Block vid "related" to an Autoweek link on the Carrera GTS ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TshFWSsrn8

... it gets a little weak at the end ... makes you think "that would get old" and then he wrecks his wheels ... that's just plain stupid ... but a helluva toy car and he's developed some impressive skills at throwing it around ... in the faster sections (without the pirouettes) it would be interesting to have someone drive the same elements of the course for speed instead of this spectator sport of rally-drifting ... I imagine the same car driven for speed would distance itself ahead of the wild ride sliding approach ...

Don't forget the 911 Speedster, as that will be showing up soon as well.

The remaining model life is in inverse proportion to the number of variants.
