Wrong engine correct sir. Porsche is really going to have to do something about the next model GT3 and GT2 blocks. If idle chit-chat here and over there, 6speed & Team-Speed, indicate anything those of us who want one will want, no NEED, a GT1 block motor for sure. Not unless they can come up with a viable replacement between now and then.

they can go to a 3.9L block as the RSR currently has and push it to 450/80 ... still no sign of a 9A1 race engine in any of the race cars ... until that happens I hope that we will stick with the Metzger engine ...

unless they are trying to figure out how to shoehorn the RS Spyder 3.4L into a 911 ...

No reason why they cant stick with the Metzger in the GT2 ... lets face it the 2RS has quite a bit of go under it ... the normally aspirated 3's however are continuing to edge towards the limits of not just the Metzger engine but also the 6 cyl boxer itself...

Given that RUF has done something similar with the RGT-8, a lump that weighs significantly less than the current flat-6 & is positioned further forward, seems like Porsche could figure it out for the next GT3. : )

Yup they could although engine development is not cheap (although as you point out RUF did it) and it all depends how Porsche views the 911 and GT cars
going fwd, you could argue the 9A1 engine is that development ... at least for the carerras and the turbo cars ... the GT3's are the anomaly here ...

Guys, as Porsche enthusiasts, can we once and for all, also out of respect for the man, learn that he was Hans Mezger.
Not Me(T)zger.
Sorry for the rant.
Best, w
