This reminded me of the hype surrounding the Nissan GT-R, only to be told that the warranty will be voided for bah bah bah reason. Owners might as well baby the GT-R. Do you think the MP4-12C will live up to its expectations?

For a Brit to say that it makes it even more amusing. I assume your a Brit due to your 'location being the UK.

Anyway, will it land the same fate as the 458 when it was compared by Chris Harris in the latest EVO test? Will it be too 'digital' where the hardcore driver wants more of 'analogue'?

I think that it won't sound half as good as the 458 based on the fact that it is turbo.

To me the MP4-12C appears to be a legitimate contender for Lambos and Ferraris. It should be the recipient of a substantial amount of McLaren's F1 know how. And I believe that a more track/sport oriented version will eventually be offered.

The car's quality, at least to me, is not in question.

I'll take the plunge and let you guys know how it goes. The only thing we can compare the mclaren to is the 458. I'm fairly certain it will be faster, and be more liveable. I like the simplicity of the exterior, as opposed to the garish gallardo- and we all know gallardos depreciate like aston martins and mercedes.

Why doesn't it make more power? With turbos, 3.8 liters, and 8500 rpm, they can do better than 608 hp.

The NYT claims $191K, Edmunds claims $265K? Which is it?

I know huh?!

Could you image if Porsche pulled that Crap with the PDK and Sport Chrono turned on? Sorry home boy if you happen to break your tranny when you have Sport Chrono turned on under full launch, you are **** Out of Luck! Porsche would lose so much integrity!

Why would you need more power than that? How much does the car weigh? I mean really do you need more power?

Please tell me I'm missing your sarcasm.

Yeah! Like if Porsches had their RMS leak and Porsche wouldn't want to fix it under warranty. :sarcasm:

Back to the OT...

Is the engine in the MP4-12C complete designed and built in-house?

PS
I can't wait for their track focused model!! And how long before someone (or McLaren themselves) take this thing GT racing?
