i search and i asked and i got many difference answers.
who actually has 997gt3 with PCCB and subsequently swapped to steel rotors. if you do....
1. is this a direct swap?
2. part number?
3. do i need to change calipers or just rotors?
thanx.

Hey Mooty, Mikymu recently had a thread on swapping to cup rotors. Direct swap, same callipers, some minor issue with pads....
Thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-gt2-...onversion.html
Hope this helps

The Stoptech DRK is a rotor only replacement. The caliper is not replaced. However the brake pads must be replaced. The brake pads must be modified to fit the PCCB caliper/Stoptech iron rotor combination. GMG can provide everything you need based on the the thread on 6speedonline.
Another source for the Stoptech DRK is Zeckhausen Racing. I have used Stoptech brakes since 2002 and purchased all of my replacement parts from Dave Zeckhausen. Zeckhausen Racing has the all the part numbers (rotors, brake pads etc.) on their website.
Stoptech P# 81.796.9911 380 x 35mm Front rotor pair
Stoptech P# 81.792.9912 345 x 35mm Rear rotor pair
I use PFC pads for the track (PFC 01 front, PFC 97 rear).
Stoptech P# 63-660-0991ST PFC 01 modified front pads (one axel)
Stoptech P# 63-650-1300ST PFC 97 modified rear pads (one axel)
Other compounds are available but I don't know the pt #s. Call Stoptech, GMG or Zeckhausen for that info
I believe Giro also makes a DRK for the PCCB rotor but due to my familiarity with the Stoptech product line I did not pursue the details.

Mooty - search The 996 Cup rotors are a direct replacement for the front PCCB and the rear rotors from a 997 Cup replace the rears. Use those and you do not have to change the calipers. The rotors are a direct swap.

Correct me if I am wrong Bob. I thought the 996 Cup front rotors are 350 mm. I know for a fact the 996 GT3 front PCCB are 350 mm.

all right, read mikymu's post.
way too complicated, i need 6 sets of front pads 3 sets of front rotors a year at min. i dont have time to shape the pads or the time to put the disk on the hat. i need something that's easy....
if i were to change caliper from pccb to steel, and run steel rotor would that work. or are the uprights different too..... ugh....
just when i thought i got it all figured out.

You can do it much easier to go from PCCB to steel if you don't mind some minor mods to the front uprights, and then use spacers if you want to switch back. With my method you can keep the PCCB calipers and do just rotors and pads.
Or, you could go with the new 2010 steels for the front, and I am guessing that the swap would be even easier, without mods to the front upright.
For the rears it is a direct swap without upright modification. You also keep calipers. You would just change rotors and pads. Would be coold to also do 2010 rear rotors since they are lighter.
OR, just go with the rotor swap from Sharkwerks with either the Brembo Rotors (expensive) or the other ones which I forget the name, but are 2,400 for all four. They should have a solution by now for PCCB brakes.
Should really be simple.
Going from the MKi 997 steel to PCCB is a whole different ballgame and much more difficult since you simply have to swap out the front upright alltogether, also need to go with PCCB calipers at least in the front. Would then want to do rears unless you don't mind having Zebra calipers (as George Jefferson would say).

No, I mean you are buying one for yourself!!
I was not very clear.. 70K? Ouch, that is low, is it that bad?
You're giving me anxiety attacks over the price difference my car VS new RS!
One must go.
I think I could get a little more than 72K as a trade with sales tax benefit and sell all the extra stuff out of the car and move Traqmate, seat belts, V1 and laser Jammer to RS.
The RS already has the right seats and I suppose pads, rotors, roll bar, tires all are wrong sizes on new RS.
