RS or Scuderia?
Now this being a Porsche forum I understand where your brand loyalties lie but given the option, money no object, which would you rather own a Ferrari Scuderia or the new RS?
I love my 997.1 GT3 but I think I am going to sell it now after a very happy 14months and come spring I need a new toy. The RS to my spec seems to be around £113,000 and used Scuds are now as low as £140,000 so by next spring with the 458 Italia on the scene the difference will be pretty close. My reasons for liking the RS are its single minded purity, manual box, and well its the best of the 911s and I love 911s. The Ferrari counters by being faster and prettier but i'm not that into paddle gearboxes even when they are the best.
Either car will be mainly used on the road not the track, although we are talking about maximum attack road usage including the Nurburgring, as I race GTs and get my track kicks there.
Discuss please....

The scud is quicker on a track. Probably more expensive to live with though. Resale is higher IF you don't put a lot of miles on it....

Get both if money is not an object
In the real world I think the RS would be more fun to drive and own than most Ferrari. Simply becuase of the stick gearbox and less expensive to live with. Most Ferrari owners would not drive their car so offen, not to mention take it to track.

I never owned a Ferrari and I could not afford one, and my GT3 is my first Porsche.
You are looking at a used one instead of just getting a new Ferrari.
If I assume that if 30-40K is a factory for you, I think you will spend even more owning and maintaining one, never mind if you are doing 30+ track days a year in a Ferrari.
Road use only with a mild track day a couple of days a year, buy whatever you like better.

I've owned both, the RS is a better track car, the Scuderia is quicker but I found it to be more suitable for highway/street use. The RS is also more forgiving on track, whereas Scud is either on or off, not much warning when you're at limits

If 1 was so much better than the other than only 1 would exist. Drive both and be your own judge, no one here is going to tell you off for choosing what is an amazing Ferrari by any standards.
I am getting delivery of my own GT3 MkII, having driven a 360CS and a Scuderia. Money no object I would probably go for the Scud myself . Reliability and everyday drivability is also important for me. Anyhow I doubt most of us are able to push either a GT3 or a Scuderia to the limit, I for 1 had to recalibrate completely from a 997 to drive these 2 cars.
So test, go for what your heart says since you can afford both and make sure you get tuition!

Isn't the Scuderia twice the price of the GT3 RS? What can you get one in the US for? If they are $30-40K apart in price, then definitely the Scuderia. If there is a bigger difference then the RS.

Three Wheelin'
I like the Ferrari, driven the F430 and was absolutely happy with how it drove and performed. If money was no object, I would own both, the RS for track duty and the F for Sunday drives. My logic in this is as follows: the Porsche we know is a wash and wear type of car, you can beat on the track repeatedly without worrying about Hans having to fix it. The F on the other hand, I would be thinking my next maintenance/repair bill. As a result, your choice of vehicle will depend on your personal preferences and tolerance to more frequent attention that the Ferrari requires.

....approaching this from a different angle, one has to consider the cantankerous British public, drive a Ferrari one’s perception is you’re a "Major Tosser" drive a Porsche you’re just a "Tosser". I'll take the latter. Given the excellent reliability of Porsche’s, imagine the un-mitigating hell you would be given broken down on the M25 in the Ferrari after a track day at Brands Hatch. Fix it again Tony. Buy an RS

the only reason I'd see not to get a Scud (because lets be honest it's not your only car or daily driver) is because you're not going to actually use it...I've thought about this as well and after 2 GT3s (and my CGT) I still lust after the 360CS, the 430 Scud and now the 458. My plan is to get a 360CS and wait for the 458 special thing in another 3 years.

I've driven both on and off track (I have an RS, very good friend has a Scuderia). Scud is faster, especially for average drivers (like me) and the looks are magnificent ( rosso grigio a must). If I had the money I'd get one...but I'm sure sooner or later I'll miss the GT3.

for me... RS every time
Most of the scud drivers up our way meet at starbucks and stroke each other in their ferrari hats/shoes/socks/etc.... don't get me wrong, they get driven... to ferrari show and shine events after they leave starbucks.
I personally prefer the 360CS -- that is one bad (as in good) car. Something about that particular ferrari really "speaks" to me in a way that the scud does not. TDF blue over black... ohhhh mama...
once they come out with the 458 Scud (or whatever they are going to call it) the 430 Scud will be last years prom date... there are simply too many of them around.
If you decide on the scud, wait for the 458 to hit the streets and the fickle ferarri"istas" will be dropping thier scuds for the latest and greatest drippings from Enzo... and scud price will come down even further than it has already.
I would take the money and buy a nice 360 CS and an RS before I bought a Scud.
