I just ordered a new 2009 C2S with reasonable equipment level (Sport PASM / LSD, heated sport seats, fire extinguisher, mats, black dials, no badge) and it only set me back $81k (10.3% discount). I don't think a 2009 C2S that just ran 7:50 at the Ring is that much of a compromise - it's a balance. More street friendly at a cost of 5-10 seconds on The Ring, which is a very long track. Would that equate to 1-2 seconds on a track like Watkins Glen?

$20k less for a new C2S vs. a 2-year old GT3 is nice. For me to switch from my GT3 to the C2S was not about $ - it was about a car that fit my needs better: 75% street and 25% track.

The reason I like the C2S is the PDK. I have WAY too much fun in the AMG with the 7 speed box and the
paddle shifters. My back is much improved thanks to the surgery in Dec.

I'm glad your back is better; that is good to hear. If you want the PDK, then I certainly understand. But we do not know yet if the next GT3 will have the PDK. What if you order a C2S and while you are waiting the GT3 and its specs is finally released, and they have some press cars for testing with the kind of reviews that may make you regret your decision. Just think about it.

The new C2S is an awesome car, but the new GT3 will be another "must have." I would wait a few more months to see what the new GT3 has to offer, and you might just get REALLY excited. In the mean time, a refundable deposit at a dealership would not be a bad idea to hold a spot for one.

I'm just saying, think about it. You are a car fanatic and buy quite a few cars on a regular basis; right? I do the same. If I had sold my GT3 and I was in the market for a new 997, I would certainly wait and see.

You know that deep down inside you want another GT3; now imagine if you could get one with PDK!

I could live with new C2/C4 if they offered the lighter brakes, center-lock wheels, and alcantara interior....
