I've driven the facelift C2 PDK and C2S 6spd and I think the new car is great (especially the motor). I found the car a significant improvement over the last iteration of the Carrera in virtually every respect except one. I found the steering in the new car to be a bit lacking in feel (seemed a bit numb, especially on center). Anyone else notice this?

When I took delivery of my 997 C2S, the steering was not very crisp. Had the alignment checked and it was a mess. Dealer reworked it compliments of PCNA and it got much better. The following season, even better with GT3 control arms.

Was that discount on an ordered car?

Yes. Two of us here in CT this past week or two have received the same discounts on ordered cars. Thing is, extremely few people ordering cars and no dealer wants to order speculative cars for the lot.

Thanks Ron. That is a great price and I have been certainly tempted to order one. No dealer in my area would likely come close to that discount.

Let your fingers do the walking. If you don't mind getting it shipped (or better yet, driving it back), then purchasing from out-of-state is no biggie. Chris (Likemystoppie) has made me some REALLY outstanding offers. My ding-dong dealer locally (from whom I've bought or referred over 6 cars in two years) won't budge from MSRP.

Paul:

I know you are partial to silver cars as am I. when i ordered my '09 C2S I knew I did not want black interior. Looked at the color choices and decided on the sea blue sight unseen. I did get the silver seat belts to add contrast. I could not be happier with the combination and my wife loves it, a clear home run. I did get the adaptive sport seats and heated seats. Great for the back. Additionally I choose not to get the optional lower PASM to make it easier to get in and out with my back but I did get and strongly recommend limited slip. I'm now toying with the Sharkwerks or similar center muffler replacement. You will quickly fall in love with the new C2S and while i have always been of the "it has to be stick to be a sports car" I have quickly become a convert to PDK. You can't even compare it to tiptronic. Enjoy the configuring puzzle it will pass the recovery time.

Guys, it's a sign of the times... Quotes ranged at 8, 9, 9.5, and 10% off, which still left a couple grand in for the dealer. I'm hearing of the same deals throughout the country and it's not going to last forever.

I think we may have bought from the same dealer, HBL? I give them credit for selling me an RS at MSRP even though I had never bought a car from them before. However, I don't think they would discount much on a new 997.
