I dont understand your question. I guess to show that they are a cool way of saying, "Hey im an RS". hehe I maybe wrong(please correct me if I am), but I think RS means Rally Sport. If you look for a thread also here in the 7GT3/GT2 called, "Awesome rallye shot ". You will see a porsche GT3 rally car in action.

Ford RS - Rally Sport
Porsche RS - Renn Sport
If 435 hp is correct, then the new engine must have a lower redline than the current engine. With DFI plus an increase in displacement, the new engine must make quite a bit more torque. That would translate to a bigger gain than just 20 hp unless it lacks the revs.
BTW, I told you guys the GT3 would not get PDK. I still think the reason is weight (although if the GT1 engine is retained, maybe PDK is not even compatible?).

When I heard the 3.8 and 435hp numbers a few weeks ago that was exactly my thought - would have to be 8200rpms - if it is 8400, then it is either very conservatively rated or the tuners are going to be selling lots of flashes to unlock 20whp or more - that engine on good gas at 8500rpm has to be 450+hp

3.8 vs 3.6 = +5.56% so straightline would give 438 hp
I think you guys are correct, they are "de-tuning" the A91/ non-dry sump motor vs current GT1 block
Dont forget the reason the 996 & 997 Turbo/GT2/GT3 have the GT1 block is because when the "new" M96 engine was Turbocharged they all went ker-blam-o (do a search on articles from '99 and '00...Porsche tried to turbo the M96 and they all exploded)...my guess is they are playing it safe with the A91 wet sump GT3 engine. Who knows, RMS leak on the GT1 block may be a minor issue.....

At a Porsche Cars presentation about a month ago, I asked if the 9A1 engine would be used in the GT and race cars and was told yes. The 3.8 S engine is 385 HP. The GT3 engine at 435 is a 13 percent increase. The redline of the 9A1 is a lot lower than the current 8400 RPM on the 997 GT3. I suspect that it might not be raised as high which would explain the 435 HP instead of the expected 450+. Porsche also allows room for future power increases as each model year seems to show a slight power bump.
As speedgeek observes, the increased displacement with no other changes to the GT1 engine should yield 438 HP, with DFI yielding further increases. This suggests to me a lower red line with better mid range torque. On the other hand we may still see a GT3 with 450 HP. We were given a technical presentation on the new engine and it is quite impressive. The balance shafts are gone (that itself yields a power increase). The failure prone IMS is gone and the case is all new along with the heads.
I am still betting on a GT3 with PDK, perhaps reserved for the RS version since it improves track performance and both the Lambo and Ferrari offer one as will the R 10 Audi.

I don't think the PDK will reserved for the RS, because that thing is heavy.

Audi R8 / R10, Lambo and Ferrari use single-clutch systems, not double clutch. Ferrari and Audi use double clutch systems on their less performance-oriented cars where weight matters less. I just can't see Porsche adding 80 lbs to the RS by means of PDK. Kinda defeats the purpose of the lighter RS.

I think this was done so Porsche could go without the expensive Titanium conrods. One of the unfortunate things about a lower redline is that with only 6 gears and a nearly 200mph top speed, gearing will be sub-optimal for most road courses (worse than the current sub-optimal gearing).

Grant, if the GT3 forgoes Ti rods, then where is the extra 50+ hp coming from compared to the Carrera motor? What will make the GT3 engine different from the Carrera one? How will Porsche justify the hefty price penalty for the GT3?

They will likely set the redline around 7,800-8k rpm and improve breathing and exhaust (maybe bump the compression a bit higher too). It is basically like the X51 kit for the 997.2. They used to charge $14k for that alone in the past. So, now they add an aerokit, a sport suspension, bigger brakes, and a GT3 badge. No trouble coming up with the additional premium for the GT3...
