After test driven RS4, C63, M3s (6speed and DCT), I'd go with the M3 for daily also. BMW makes better all around drivers cars. Period. Steering is sharper, 6speed gearbox is better than Audi and DCT is better than AMG's autotragic box. Overall driving experience is simply much more enjoyable. C63 and RS4s are M3-wanna-bes but failed at trying (just like Top Gear review said). Not to mention, if you wanna do occational track days, E92 M3 is more fun. Also, new M3 OWNS C63 and RS4 on the track. Another fact is that all the generation of M3s holds the value better and depreciate less than all the generation of AMGs or S4s so better economically too. Go figure the stats or look on ebay.

As for a GTR for daily, I think it's too big for driving around traffic and around town. And cabin space is tiny and visibily isn't too good compare to 4 doors. Only thing that car do well is surprise people by pulling fast lap times for being a big car.

Going back to the original discussion:

If your target is to buy a GT3RS in next 3 years (through todays economic uncertainly) I am not sure if any of those fancy cars will help you in anyway.

You will take at least $15-20K hit on any of those cars you mentioned, if any one of them were used as DD.

If you truely must have a car now that is fun and will get most of your $ back when you are ready for the GT3RS, get a classic car. I would go for a clean RS America.

I picked it up a few days ago. Can't wait until after breakin. Yes, I do still think about getting the GTR, but I like the m3 a lot. It's just the GTR has the best performance/price ratio.

I'm sort of a new car guy. I rarely buy used cars, unless I know for certain it was a well maintained car with very very low miles.

anyhow, I can wait patiently for the new GT3(RS).

I have yet to read a comparison with M3, C63 and RS4 in which the M3 wasn't chosen first. I think you made a great choice in picking the M3.

+1 what Mooty said....

before I bought my 2006 M3, I made it perfectly clear that it was going to be tracked often and the dealer had no issues whether I needed brakes monthly or yearly...pretty good deal I thought, but I only had the M3 for 3 months..I didn't like it

i have a 07 328i.
when i did the service, they changed wiper blades and other consumable stuff. very friendly service too. i dont really like my bmw (just not a porsche and the steering wheel is lousy), but it's great for DD in traffic jams.
