I don't know many 997 cup's out there, the only club race I saw was all air cooled if I remember right.

I'm not saying the 993 was a bad car, but technology rules the industry. Wouldn't porsche still be using the 993RSR for GT2 racing if it was that good? Porsche obviously wanted to sell the new water cooled engines, but really there are non factory backed teams out there to win and they have the 997 now.

Also like what has been said above, I am slightly on tilt about new german engines.. the gt1 block has been proven.

I do not read anything about the GT3 or RS engine one way or the other. maybe I did not find the right article, a bit late to this link..

It is in an general article in the printed mag.
And o.k., it is not an "official" announcement by Porsche, but Auto, Motor & Sport has a history of not making things up. They speak about it in a few sentences and give some reasoning to it. This comes very close to an official announcement by the "company".
