Default Which Pagid Yellow Brake Pads for my 997 GT3 ???

My 997 GT3 still has the stock brake pads (which are awesome). I'm not sure what's in them now, but heard they might be Padig Yellow's.

I would like to get another set of brake pads for the street and for DE track use. I don't know which Pagid's would give me the best of both worlds, but looking for some advice.

Thanks.

the factory oem pads that's shipped with GT3 are made by pagid and are yellow in color BUT IT IS NOT what we call pagid yellow. PAGID YELLOW should be referred to RS19 and RS29. RS29 is slightly very very slightly grippier. 19 and 29 are same price and both are rotor friendly.

they DO NOT squeal, i ran over 20 sets or maybe more over the last few years. you do have to rebed them every 1000 street miles.

btw, you can swap pads easily on 996gt3, but i doubt you really want to do that on 997GT3's. have you installed pads on the rear yet? it's a bitch.

I haven't replaced the pads yet.
RS29 grippiest.........then, RS19.......... Is there anything below the RS19's ?

Where's the best-priced place to buy the Pagid Yellow's ??

below RS19 is RS4-4 (orange) but very few ppl use that, if at all, on GT3. i used to run those on my M3 and C2. above yellow = RS14 (black)... those are almost like on/off switches. got to be smooth with them and they kill rotors fast.

i buy my parts from austin, but now he's gone, my last set came from mackenzie at CDOC.

matt, yeah.. i know.
i am cheap when it comes to working on my car. if i can do it, i do it myself. after one change of pads on the back and lots of F words coming out of my foul mouth, i now only do the front pads, rear goes to my mechanic... i think i'll live 5 years longer from not doing the rear pads and swearing for an hour non stop.

I was thinking about replacing the rear pads myself. What makes the job so hard?....

nothing is hard just remove caliper.... ont 996gt3 was easy as pulling a pin out ! now the are a mono block design wich means the pads are inserted from the bottom of the caliper... just a PITA thats all

I run the RS-14 blacks street and track. I would tend to agree with what everyone says. The blacks are harder on discs then the yellows, and they are a little more difficult to modulate, but, not once you get used to them. They DO NOT squeek any more then the yellows (neither black nor yellows squeek in my experiance if bedded in correctly). However, the stopping power the blacks generate is definitely increased over the yellows, which is why I run them. I got used to the feel and love `em...

C.J I *believe* (but I am not sure - going on the PET catalog) that the PCCB pads and the steel pads (on the rear) are one and the same (there is only one part # listed) Obviously there are 2 part #'s for the fronts since the PCCB's are larger (380mm vs 350), but I think they are the same material.

Mooty, Wow I learn something every day. I new my GT3 came stock with Pagid but assumed since my shoes were yellow that they were the "yellow" that everyone was talking about. so hear is 3 questions?
1) what is the stock front Pagid pad
2) what is stock Rear Padid pad
3) if you uses 19 or 29's front what do you use to replace the Black pad in the rears??

Hard brakers want to know.

just be careful what you use with the PCCB's ... messing up those rotors could be costly!

1. the model number is inscribed on the pad backing, but i just threw away my OEM past saturday....

2. front and rear are of the same compound as far as i konw. there model number are different.... ok.. i see the confusion now.

RS19, RS29, RS4-4, RS 14 etc are type of compounds
then there's a four digit number such as "2405": this number denotes size/shape of the pads. 2405 is rear pad for 996gt3,
2707 = RS front, 6gt3 front
8006= RS rear
all these numbers are written on pad backing. so you want to make sure you got the right compound AND the right application for the car.

in 996gt3, many ppl mix pads, 29front 14 rear
in 997gt3, the brakes have more rear bias, and AFAIK most ppl use same pad all around. but you can feel free to mix and match.

ALL MY COMMENTS APPLY ONLY TO IRON ROTORS. I DONT RUN PCCB. SO DONT TAKE MY APPLICATION AND RUIN YOUR $10K PCCB PLEASE.

Funny but I don't think the rear pad replacement is hard at all. The calipers are on rubber lines (unlike the fronts) so they're easy to move and the pads will drop right out. Replacement is also ridiculously easy since you don't need to undo a bolt or fiddle with the damn spring plate. The only hard part is getting all of the pistons fully retracted at the same time - I am looking for a tool but you can use the old pads, some wood and a screwdriver. I do wonder whether you really should replace the caliper bolts each time but that is probably overkill for DE.
