R4S are not for track use - never, ever. I wouldn't use them on my Vauxhall - or a Yugo, for that matter.
Always RS19 or RS29 up front, and I really like the 8006 RS14 black (997 GT3) for the rear - adds even MORE rear bias. Just "be ready" ;-)
www.Google.com for GT3 brake pads, Craig is your man for GT3 brake pads over at R.S.
I even get them for less from him than I pay for them here - and I am less than 1,000 miles from where they are made.
Unglaublich gut service, and a nice kenntnisreicher mann too ;-)
Brakes are the only service I personally perform on my 997 GT3, and those rears are a bit of a pain.
I also switch my stock pads in for off season, marking the locations for easy re-bedding procedure.

Those of you that run Pagid Yellow RS 29's full time on the street and DE how do you keep them quiet? I ran the Pagid Yellow's last year on my 997S for track and street and they squealed and squawk like crazy on the street. I have to switch back and forth to street stock pads.
thanks!
thanks!

seriously, after 1000 street miles, re-bed the pads. repeat after another 1000 miles.

i dont understand why ppl bother with porterfield.
i had R4 and R4S. they cannot stop my miata or even my 1950lbs lotus. they are TERRIBLE.
get pagid or perf friction....
dont screw around with the rest.

Hi Mooty, I did 16 track days last year and the rears especially sounded like a city bus stopping. I even had in the stock anti squel devices. I am now running PF97 pads and they are just as bad on the street. So for now I swap pads.

I just take the C-Clamp and I line the contact surface with the felt side of a velcrow tape. I used to buy all my parts at J.C. Whitney years ago, old habits die hard.

use RS29 not 19, unless you have some very specific reason.
