New GT2? Why?

CAD $$.......I expect a $250-270K MSRP up here.......and by the time I am finished with my options......well......you get the idea.
Read before you speak and you'd see where I was from......it helps. US MSRP is $192K.......even your US figures are not correct.

500bhp+ cars are a dime a dozen. A pure-bred GT2 driver's car that can bite you in the *** unless you respect it, and reward you if you get it right? Now THAT would occupy a special place in the market.

I think the reasons you listed will make it less popular than the previous model... think about it: How many 500+bhp cars can you get with traction control and stability control and every other electronic gizmo known to man? The answer is, a LOT - Almost the entire Mercedes AMG line, M5, M6, all the Ferrari GT cars, all the Lambos, etc.

Also, the GT2 remains somewhat unique even with safety nets. It's a rear-drive, hard-core sports car with an insane torque-to-weight ratio, and yet it can still double as a perfectly reasonable and reliable daily driver. None of the cars you mention above quite fit that bill.

I agree that the 997 will be less popular amongst purists. But the electronic nannies will draw in a lot of people who were simply too afraid of the 996 version. I think the latter will supercede the former.

The GT2 is much more a turbo'd GT3 than it is a rwd TT. The 997 version should be every bit as raw and exciting as the 996 except when pushing ten tenths.
Of course there's a good argument to be made that the GT2 should remain the wild beast it was originally designed to be. But let's face it, the 996 version is really dangerous and has a very small market. And they've held their value about as well as a net holds water.
Actually, I think the problem is that Porsches are Porsches, not Ferraris. Depending on your point of view, Porsches may be every bit as good, or better, than Ferraris, but they simply do not have the cachet of the Cavallino Rampante. So very expensive production Porsches will always struggle to hold their value in the used market.

Maybe I'm asking too much, but I think the GT2 needs better Marketing. It's an awesome machine, but doesn't stand out enough from the rest of the product line cosmetically. The RS is unique and worth the price. The GT2 should make your jaw drop just looking at it. It doesn't do that for me at all.

Firstly, I think the video on PCNA's website is silly
Secondly, it looks like an RS with a very striking diffuser to me
Thirdly, and here's the closer for me, RS chassis with big V-8 style TQ! Talk about sit down, shut up and hold on!!!
