Default AliExpress Head Unit install

Just installed this AliExpress head unit in my 2010 GT3 RS. The blk color match is almost perfect, the fit is great and it's completely plug and play. No cutting wires or repinning connectors, it was also only $187 and got to me in 2 weeks. The only thing is it has some metal pressure clips on the side that don't exactly hold it in extremely tight, so I did some clear double sided tape around the back side of the bezel and it holds it in perfectly.Ive installed 2 other PCCM+'s in my 997.1 and 964. This is just as nice of a unit as those for 15% of the price.

Holy cow, that looks OEM. Wonder if the oem dials fit in that unit?

Do you have a link on Ali Express to that exact unit?

it's wired CarPlay. But my car had the head unit without any functions besides radio (not sure what it's called). So I just wanted car play, a port to charge my phone and hands free calling.

Interesting. Looks great!
The listing says it does have wireless CarPlay.
Just bought the 8581 version to try out. Will report back

If there’s a usb port in the back you can run one of those little boxes that makes wired CarPlay wireless. Icarlinkit is one brand but there are others.
Also does your car have Bose and if so did you buy the “fiber optic box” it says you need for Bose?

so I actually prefer the wired car play, that way I know my phone is charging at the same time.

My car did not have Bose but once you order just send them a pic of which head unit you have and they'll make sure you get the correct wiring harness. Although my harness looks like it was pre made for different connectors. So I'm sure the harness will adapt to any head unit porsche offered in the 997.2's.

Wow that looks infinitely better than my Kenwood. But my speakers suck anyways, so I don’t care. I try to drive harder and faster to drown out the crappy sound.

Is that model plug and play for 997.1?

OP mentioned ‘it’s completely plug and play’

I'm going out on a limp and saying this $187 unit is looking pretty good as the 997 PCM+, although updated, still looks dated.

Is there any way you can make a video of the unit and show us how the interface operates? Also didn't realize that there are numerous versions. Which on is the best bet?

I think they sell a grey one to match the 997.1.

yes I can make a vid. I have the PCCM in my 997.1 Turbo. I would say the user interface is better in the porsche unit but 7x better to warrant the price I don't think so. Plus I only say the PCCM interface is better bc this Ali express unit has an Android OS tha I'm not very familiar with.

As for which version is the best bet? I went with the cheapest one since my car didn't have Bose, I didn't want cameras or any of that other stuff. So that's why I ended up with the unit that cost 187
