Several years ago I had a some serious issues with the 4.0 sachs pressure plate, OEM piece. We put 2 in the car, they were all having issues with release when hot. Bought one from Porsche dealership and problem was gone, still in the car. Hopefully that’s been sorted, oddly they looked and were marked EXACTLY the same except for the “P” logo on the porsche one. The main way to tell is the 4.0 piece uses jet nuts to keep it together, the other part uses rivets.

I had a sticking pressure plate when hot years ago with the 764 Sachs Motorsport pressure plate also. This was a riveted version. Replaced it with the 487 bolted version and issue went away. I wanna say this may have been some type of a warping issue with the riveted plates. I would always check any pressure plate prior to install to make sure it's straight and "true".

sounds similar.

Yeah I think it is some sort of heat related warping, where it doesn't let the 'fingers' separate the disk fully.

What would happen is, I could still shift at speed, but, if car was parked, and lets say car was in gear and was hot, engine running, it wouldn't release enough to get it out of gear "just enough" to bind it up. Stop motor OR let it cool and it would slide out of gear no issues.

If you can suffer a little noise, I make a wide variety of 6th gear ratios that are taller than stock. I don’t come around often, so if you want to discuss, shoot me an email at gtgears@yahoo.com

That's the correct number. May be superseded however to account for the price increase. I bought this last year for just under $900. It's about $1300 now.

You have to call them to get an accurate shipping quote.

The Porsche Tax on the R&P parts is completely insane! $4k for a R&P is nuts.

I did this mod on an M3 track car and the parts were 1/5th of the cost for a part that looks exactly the same and probably gets made by the same supplier, Sachs or whoever.

However…This does sound like an amazing mod and having experienced it in my M3,
I can imagine the impact would be night and day. No doubt I will end up getting around to it when the time is right!

Man, that's going to feel like a completely different car. Did you already have a good set of equal length headers and a tune? Isn't the full D4 more than 40 hp?

Can't wait to hear your impressions.

yes claim 70hp but I am always conservative … have Dundon street headers and kit includes larger 93mm intake plenum, carbon air box cone filters and Cobb tune … should land somewhere been 7.2 RS and 4.0 for rawness, sound and feel … I hope
