I don’t own a 997 any more so that’s why I haven’t been chiming in lately lol … but all jokes aside this has been a hard time for me . between feeling violated and the humiliation of how I could let something like this ever happen to me. It sucks you know . They did end up finding my jeep in a container in Montreal in oct Which I had hopes it was the 997 . But no luck . So after a bunch of back and fourths with the insurance company I ended up having to hire an appraiser to appraise the car to todays market price and evidently we settled. I signed the papers .
the car no longer belongs to me . I did although mention the car was in Dubai and have forward everything to my adjuster it’s all in their hands now

What worries me is this was probably not a random or "lucky" act. It almost feels like someone scoped this out in advance. I fully understand the feeling of being violated, but the humility will help lead you to better learn how not to be the victim in the future.

I would be shocked if the insurance co does not have an ability to repo that car based upon additional evidence.

I would suspect it is a matter of the cost/benefit of recovery for the company. I would suspect that the amount of paperwork, fees, time, and foreign government red tape is not cheap versus the benefits of simply writing the loss off.
