+1. AirTags are cheap (bought a pack of 4) and have seen videos where a guy tracked one all the way from the US to Australia. Have one in every car that doesn’t have built in tracking…. I “hide” each one and wrap it in black duct tape so less obvious… I’ve got 3ea difficult to replace cars, including 997 GT3 and one that’s gone up in value (Toyota LC200) since the LC300 is not imported to NA now.

Sorry for your loss... My parents are Canadian and always talk about how it’s so much safer in CAN. Well after that shooting in Ottawa at the War Memorial and subsequent breach at the Parliament…evil can be found everywhere. Vigilance and situational awareness are key.

The original post says he left the keys on the counter in the garage.

OP, any updates?

I didnt see that sorry.

We keep all car keys by the nightstand drawer for this reason. You can never be 100% sure. Its really sad to hear this.

The OP and owner of this car hasn’t been online here for over a month. You should DM him on both of his Instagram accounts (@phill_356 and @over_msrp) if you haven’t already.

sounds like a scam. Send me money and I’ll help locate your car. If this guy really knew where the car was he would just call the police and report it. The cops would have no problem finding the rightful owner if they recovered the car.

I'm working in auto insurance, and today i just searched VIN of his Porsche in Google, that's how I found this chat.
I'm not asking about money.
So what are the rules around finding a car like that after his insurance has already paid him out “possibly at peak value”. How do you guys adjust for “what ever happened to it between here and there?”

Guys, I'm friends with Phil and it has already been settled with insurance and no longer belongs to him. So, completely out of his hands what happens with the car from here on out.

Enjoy your Holidays everyone

Maybe the car is out of his hands and he has been paid for it but the crime still occurred and it seems like there is a trail to follow. Just for the stress and inconvenience this must have caused him I would be very excited to seek some sort of retribution…if it was me.
