GT3 Crash on Angeles Crest Highway
My thoughts and prayers go out to their families. Be safe out there guys and hug your loved ones tightly.
I just saw this on the news here in Los Angeles. It appears from what I can tell from the news feed it's 997 GT3. The car departed Angeles Crest Highway this morning resulting in two fatalities on board.

I don’t think anyone on this tread knows the cause of the crash. So let’s stop insinuating the driver was driving beyond their limits or the car’s limits. Those who drive/ride this road on a regular basis know that a lot can go wrong even if you are driving within your/the car/the road limits. RIP.

Deeply saddened to read about this and surprised by the fatalities given the photos appears to show majority of the car intact. RIP

Definitely a 997.1 GT3. RIP to the victims. Stay safe out there everyone. We all enjoy driving but safety is number 1. If you have a passenger in the car, even more reason to step it down a notch as tempting as it is to show others the magic of the GT3.

Very sad and my condolences to the family.
IMHO you cannot truly experience what a GT3/RS has to offer on any public roads. Take it to the track and attempt to learn how to control this beast.
My experience with this car is that it will do exactly what you tell it to do and it will punish you for your driving mistakes immediately. The 996/997 is not a cheater car like the 991/992 it will crush your ego and humble you.

your not safe in any of them on a public road driving really fast if you hit a patch of gravel or just hit a corner too fast.
Also everyone can make a mistake, maybe they swerved to not hit a deer, you never know what can happen

Very sad.
Exceeding grip limits at speed on a public road is a huge risk.

Very very sad. 993 will spin much more freely, 997 Gt3 understeers like crazy and the 991’s get to speed much much quicker….

This is bull****. 997gt does not understeer like crazy.

Hopefully this thread can remain focused on those lost in this horrific accident, their families, and not taken down a negative path whether it's with speculation or negativity of any kind.

Yes and after I posted what I did, I had the fear that it could be taken that way. A tire or wheel failure could have occurred, an animal could have been in the road, driver could have had a medical emergency. But the reason I put what I put is no matter the actual cause, I think it's a good reminder for all of us to drive within our limits and the roads limits.

I didn't think your comment was inappropriate. You made no insinuations and you offered condolences while reminding us what we all know and try to do, to stay safe.
The fact of the matter is whoever was driving this car could've been anyone of us. A person with similar interests we all share was behind the wheel enjoying their Friday morning drive like we all try and do. It very well could be someone we all know, fellow Rennlister. Regardless, the families lost loved ones and the GT community lost two members.
So many things could've went wrong causing this. This winding road is narrow with a very steep shoulder, blind corners, and hazards like rock slides, animals, and pot holes. It is very plausible something very innocuous could've happened resulting in a departure from the road. We will NOT speculate resulting in the defamation of anyone on this thread. That was not the reason I started this post. My reason was simple: to bring attention to it as some on here may know this driver/car, as well as to remind people that life is precious and to enjoy every moment we fortunate brothers and sisters have left on this spinning rock.
