Agree we can't speculate about what happened. All I can do is reflect on my own driving on Angeles Crest. The guys I go with are pretty brisk, and we avoid 9 miles of ACH to use Angeles Forest which is much better and best of all fewer bicycles. I have a tendency to lag behind a little. It's one thing for me to trust my driving ability or the car. But opposing traffic crossing the line because THEY are over their heads or a bicycle are things completely out of my control and happen a lot more than deer or anything else.

At the end of the day even if a bicycle wanders into my lane if I'm going too fast to deal with it, that's on me. Really sad for the family. And the GVBC that meets on Fridays. A really really nice group of people. Really nice. They bring up the donuts and a lot of coffee. This video has a Pagani, but most of the time it's old Porsches and a lot of driver cars.

So sad that another senseless and cowardly act has taken lives from the innocent and their loved ones. You can’t fix stupid and certainly can’t buy sense. Sad that based on his close friend the guy even admitted to the car driving “weird” days prior yet he still puts his son in the car and goes driving “spiritedly” on a public road with cliffs. Sad, truly sad for the loved ones left to grieve with this absurdity.

You own $100k cars. If you want to be an idiot then go join a track day or HPDE and only put yourself in the car. Sadly these cars don’t drive themselves and are only as good as the person behind the wheel. I am confident that when the investigation comes back it won’t be because of a health condition, animal in the road or anything else other than high speed.

It’s horrible to take your own son to his death. I feel terrible for son’s mom.

Crashes almost every week on that road. Drivers treat it like a race track which is why I wouldn’t ever drive through there anymore if I was visiting. I’d rather go off a track than the side of a mountain, it’s really sad. There are so many local tracks in Southern California, I don’t know why you wouldn’t just take it there.

The problem with that whole area is that idiot YouTubers glamorize that road with showoffs who have too little skill and too much ego to go to the track. Matt Farrah and Jon Lieberman, two popular car youtubers/writers, host an “unofficial” event at the top of that road every Friday. And almost every Friday… there’s an accident.

Their gathering has an Instagram account for it. And they’ve since deleted all their posts…

Time to close the thread. Even delete it if possible.

Let Sonny and his son rest in peace and allow the family to grieve in peace.
and sadly your post is why these senseless things continue. People need to start being held accountable for their actions. God will look over those left to carry this senseless burden and lay their hearts at rest.

Agreed time to close thread.

Very very sad and it seems like we covered most perspectives.

My deepest condolences to the family.

Let’s get the mods to delete this thread. Give the family their privacy.

The family doesn’t need to read this do they? Why delete it? If people don’t like to read the replies they certainly can choose not to click the thread correct? The family I am sure is grieving and not reading a thread on a car forum.

If it were me I’d want you guys to delete it as that’s not how I want to be remembered…

But…I happen to be standing next to my wife and she says leave it as I could use a good reminder to check my arrogance, confidence and reflect what I want my own son to deem except-able off track as he enters his teens. Maybe we just need to lock it and keep it around as a reminder… but maybe we don’t need years of off hand comments? We could delete this one and start a new one where guys that know him post what they remember of him and not what we speculate. We ALL know if a-arm or hub fails this is us… I’m going give him the benefit of the doubt because that’s what I’d want from you guys after that many years of getting to know my 997 bolt by bolt.

Farah and Lieberman do not host GVBC. They have nothing to do with it other than they show up every so often.
And the GVBC Instagram account has never had posts. They only share other's posts on the "stories" section. They didn't delete anything.
And no, I'm not the host. (But I have been going to GVBC since it was just a handful of us. Sonny was one of the early adopters as well.)
I understand this is a situation that makes for impassioned responses, but please make sure you know your facts before you start throwing people under the bus.

Sincerely... cheers, and safe travels.
