Good that you mentioned Nitto NT01 because this is one tire that just happens to have ideal height/width in both 18" and 19".
Exactly. It is very important to me to have proper diameters so I have stayed with 18's and NT-01's. That being said, I think the tire selections have expanded over the years and there are more options for fitments in 19" too. Smaller diameter is generally cheaper too, but if you're running full slicks then all that goes out the window because everything is expensive, lol.

Another thought is that if you are new to tracking, you don't need slicks or even hoosiers (0-40 treadwear range). You should run with slightly lower grip (like NT-01's) and really learn the feel of the car, assuming you want to become a really great driver (which for some reason is very important to me).

which size is best for the track for us 997 gt3 owners? I also go back and forth of what simply looks best too.

Lastly, spending @5500 for new e88s seems like a lot to spend for track wheels, better to find used ones or build myself?

thanks all!
What tyres do you hope to run?
Street tyre sizing in 18" is weak.
R comp (NT01) / slicks = not much of a problem

Thanks or the replies everyone, I really appreciate it!

I was on Cup2s for a couple of years, now on Re71s but would like to try Nt01 and Hoosiers eventually.

What size NT-01 18” are you running?

Car looks better with 19s
What alignment settings do you use to fit the 275/335? I've heard it can be done just requires some very careful specs to get it without rubbing. I've been running 245/315 want to try the 275/335

245/40-18 and 305/35-18

I tried a larger front tire and the car was way too loose. I drive the car hard, on the nose, and I still feel like I have all the grip I need with the 245 front. It's very balanced.

I had issues with alignment (caster) and rubbing with 245/40/18 NT01 during hard braking. Needed to get camber plates for the fronts to work (correct amount of camber without having to increase caster) and the car is awesome now. I don't know why my car had issues with that tire size but others have not; I am using brand new Apex wheels (group buy from Rennlist last year) with the proper offsets, etc.

Also, I use 315/30/18 in the back without any problems.

the 315 isn't the right rear for these, too short. you'd need to adjust rake and alignment.

245/305 is the ticket. there should be no issues fitting those on a narrow or wide body car.

18 or 19 depends on tire. you want to use. for track (I've slowed that down the last year...) I think 18 is better. I like the feel, the meaty look... and tire selection is good (nt01, hoosier, slicks)
For street 19 is really only choice, as street 18" tire selection is non existent other than NT01.
For both, you'd go with 19 if you can't swap wheels for track use. And run a SportCup2, NT01, etc.

This. also, more tire protects your wheels from curbs or off-track excursions (not that we've ever done that)

For NT01s I use 275/35/18 and 325/30/19 on a 18x10 and 19x12.5
For Pzero slicks I use 275/645-18 and 315/680-18 on a 18x10 and 18x12.5

Both sets give me roughly comparable overall tire diameters with actual measurement of 25.4/26.8 for the NT01 and 25.4/27.0 for the Pzeros. Pretty close to OEM 7.2 diameters

In the past I used to run the NT01 in a 275/35/18 and 335/30/18 but the rear 335 is a bit short at 26.0". The 325/30/19 is a better bet as it's 3/4" taller. The 315/30/18 is a poor choice as it is very short at 25.3" with a rather meager load rating. The NT01 is a terrible tire in the 315 size. In comparison, the 26.4" tall 305/35/18 is substantially better on all accounts, actually rather good and works great with a 245 for a direct bolt on. The 335 is better again than the 305 but may not fit a non RS without careful wheel offset selection and needs a 265 or 275 front. You need a 9.5" wheel at a minimum for the 265 or 275, 10" is ideal. My bet is that the few guys that have tried the 275 and did not like it is due to the fact that they pinched it onto a 9" wheel. It's fantastic on a 10" wheel and far superior to a 245 on a 9".

I'll have to double check but from memory
Front camber -3.0, top hat reversed, can't remember shim size
Rear camber -2.5

If someone is looking to build their own set of 18" BBS E88, I have outer and inner barrels, and brand new seals and hardware I'd sell. You would only need to get centers.

If you want a plug and play 18" solution, I have used 18" BBS Forged Monoblocks I can sell. These are very rare as only a limited run of them were made. (These are not CH-R) They are stamped WCGT.
18x9.0 = 19.7 lbs
18x12.0 =23.0 lbs
