Default 997 gt3 track wheels, 18 or 19?

18 in or 19inch? seems like 18s were best a few years ago due to better tire options but I have a feeling that isn't the case anymore....

which size is best for the track for us 997 gt3 owners? I also go back and forth of what simply looks best too.

Lastly, spending @5500 for new e88s seems like a lot to spend for track wheels, better to find used ones or build myself?

thanks all!

Good question. I have both and now find running 19” better as the later semi slick tyres are not made in 18”.
Eg trofeo r on 9” front and 12’’ rear in 19” , 235 or 245 front, with 305 rear.

if using slicks I suggest 18” still.

completely depends on how sticky of a tire you want. I run 18's because I've been on Nitto NT-01's for 6 years. if you want hoosiers, then 19's have better fit options.

18s allows you to go wider. E.g. 275/335
Otherwise most good tires are available in either 18 or 19.
Car looks better with 19s

I focus first on the available height of the tire compound that you want to run, then secondly on the width of that compound. With that said, my preference is 19" wheels for Cup 2, Trofeo R, and Hoosier R7. 18" for non-DOT slicks.

Yes, by non-DOT I mean real racing slick such as Pirelli DH.

Good that you mentioned Nitto NT01 because this is one tire that just happens to have ideal height/width in both 18" and 19".
