I tried a larger front tire and the car was way too loose. I drive the car hard, on the nose, and I still feel like I have all the grip I need with the 245 front. It's very balanced.
Perfect, thanks for info. Have had 18” Forgelines sitting in garage for 2 1/2 years. If this season ever gets going time to break them out

I'm running 18" Forgeline GA1R with NT01s. Love everything about them including how they look. Much prefer this setup over OEM w/ RE71Rs that I was running previously.

If you are serious about tracking, get 18's. Many options for slicks. Warning: the grip is addictive. Many good insights posted. I've had great results with Pirelli DH. Michelin's were simply heaven but very pricey. (I admit it- I use tires that have been previously run). Please give careful consideration to forged instead of cast wheels. Much more expensive but much more strength. I've had cast wheel crack, and have buddies who had cracked spokes. Think of the expense you'd have if a wheel failed and put you in the Armco. Keep in mind things like metal fatigue, there is limited life. I've been working with an IMSA prototype team for several years- even forged BBS wheels will crack if you're hitting curbs. The team routinely replaces the wheels after 2 seasons purely due to fatigue concerns.

Good luck. If you're tracking, frequently inspect your wheels (inside too) for stress cracks or damage

Hard to be super specific as I've run through 4 sets of Nittos vs 1 set of RE71s. My laptimes are better and performance is very consistent, I think the reduction in unsprung weight is noticeable, and I get 4-5 days with regularity which I think is pretty good.

One benefit of RE71r is they're much quieter on the road - important if you're going to be lazy and just leave the R compounds on all the time. First time I put the Nittos on I thought something was wrong with my tranny there was so much noise on the highway.

Gorgeous wheels & awesome car!

quick question about rear tire size: 315 vs 305 for the Advans? (Earlier in this thread, it seemed like 305 is better for rears when using Nitto NT-01. . . Is that because Nitto 315s are problematic, and Advan 315 are fine?). What is the optimal rear tire size when using 245/45/18 tires in front?

depends on the aspect ratio of the advan. NT01 315 have 30 aspect ratio in 18s so tire is too short. Imo there isn’t any real need to go bigger than 305. Gt3 doesn’t have enough torque to need more rear grip. 305 is plenty imo. If you want 315 strictly for aesthetics that’s a diff story.

18x9.0 = 19.7 lbs
18x12.0 =23.0 lbs

Any pictures of these on a GT3?

The Advan 315s are a full 3/4" shorter than the OEM 305s and have a significantly lower load rating. Contact patch of the 315 is also going to be smaller than the 305 due to the small diameter of the 315. Hence the reason the 315s perform lousy compared to the 305.
