Default What's your next 911?

Have had my 997.1 C4S since 2009, it's been doing great, fast enough, comfortable enough, can do track days with GT2 seats and hold my own, and knock on wood, no issues so far.

However, been thinking of changing... Options are 997.2 GTS, or GT3 (too expensive), Turbo, or 991. While I am not much in fond of 991, I like technology in cars and this is my daily (albeit I don't drive everyday)... so new tech in 991.2 seems impressive to me. But I just can't STAND the lack of engine noise in 991.2, and steering feel is terrible. Having said that, I've never bought a brand new Porsche, so the possibility of optioning my car EXACTLY how I want is very enticing to me, while costly.

So, what's the cure? What would be your next 911? Anyone in the same boat?

I've had 997.1C2S, then 997.1TT (both 6speed and weekend warrior), IMO the boost is so dang addicted and it's difficult to find a proper replacement. My instinct telling me to get 991.2GT3 or Huracan but they don't offer manual transmission, so I am looking for 2012 Audi R8 V10 6speed with low mileage in white color. You can't really go wrong with any 911 either. Good luck.

TT might be an interesting choice, while not as great sounding as NA engines, it still sounds OK from outside, the new Turbo engines are just so freaking quiet. How do you find the noise?

If I ever replace my 997 it would be for something like a hot rod air cooled 911. Comfortable, working air conditioning and a beast of an engine.

If I win the lotto I would get a Singer and a 356 made by Rod Emory.

I just installed a new flywheel sport lightweight, clutch and RMS so i'll be looking to get another 12-15 months out of my 997S which drives so good still today (now over 92,000 miles and nearly 8 years of ownership)

I was after a 997.2 but after careful consideration i'm leaning towards either a 991 C2/CS/C4S PDK or a 997 TT as their prices have come down some over the last 18 months. Prices are now in the mid 60's for very nice examples of all the above.

I don't believe you have driven a 991.2. It does not sound terrible, especially with PSE. The steering feel has improved from a 991.1, it is more comparable with a 997. I had thoughts of upgrading to a 991.1 but after driving a 991.2 on the track and had it for 3 days for an extended test drive. The next 911 is going to be a 991.2 for sure. Like you, I like newer technology too so I would never buy an air cooled 911 unless it's my 4th or 5th car. Personally, I would never buy a new car, 991.1 could be had for 50% off of it's original MSRP. Just go to the HFS 991.1 thread for good deals.

Haven't driven 991.2, but was in it, and engine noise is definitely CRAP, but can't say how the steering feels.

The only 991.2 that maybe worth brand new would be GT3RS when it comes but I simply can't afford or be important enough to Porsche to order one!

I instructed in a 991.1 that had exhaust work done. It was a base car with PDK. One of the coolest sounding cars I've ever been in. I'll have an S.

Hopefully a 997.1 GT3.

The 991 just doesn't do it for me. The size really turns me off, it's huge.

997.2 Turbo S or 991.2 Turbo S

(that is my ultimate in *reasonable*/realistic cars (i.e. leaving out the GTs, 918s, Singers etc...)

997 turbo or 997.2 C4S or targa. Been half looking and I take any longer the 991.1's will prob enter the mix. I like the new technology in them.

991.1 actually sounds better than 997.2, same engine but much better exhaust and noise engineering. 991.2 however, has lost most of it, due to Turbo sucking it all up!

997.2 GTS. But I might be biased on this topic.
