It's comforting to see that the 991 guys have the same lame *** arguments about the 991.1 vs the 991.2 as the 997 guys have about any 991. As in I would never ever never buy a 991 cause my 997 is so raw and visceral and analogue and the 991 is a fat luxo barge!! Hilarious

Well done

And if you really want to hear a sweet sound come listen to mine with headers, cats and the gundo cans

Cheers and carry on

While I'm arguably a huge fan of the smaller dimensions and steering feel of my 997.2 C2S, I might consider going to a 991.1 GTS.

As much as I try to see the upsides of the 991.2, I cannot do without the sound and effervescent linear power of the 3.8L NA engine.

1969 911T. 2 years into full restoration. Expect it to be done around September.

Agreed. I love my 991.2 but when I jump in my 997 it just feels right. The PSE and manual gearbox just do it for me. My 991.2 is super fast, sounds pretty good (not great) with the PSE on but I feel like I'm more in an Aston Martin due to the size and smoothness of it. All 911's are really great cars it's just that we miss some of that "analog" feel of cars back in the day. Hense the reason I picked up a 993 too. Ugh....

Anything made from the 997.2 or prior. I don't even own a water cooled 911 but none of the new stuff holds my interest.

I was lucky to have a dad who had a couple 911s (930, 964). So my idea of a 911 has always been those images from my youth. My 997 gives me that feeling, albeit not quite!

My next 911 is probably that mid engine Corvette coming out - might even get the Grandsport prior to it's release. Can't beat the value the American cars offer today.

I guess that leaves out the 959 :-) I love my C4S and it sounds like yours is a launch edition with the CFBS. If I ever hit a lotto then a Singer or 959 or possibly Carrera GT. Otherwise my Pcars are as much a supercar as I need for now.

991.2 does really have a crappy sound (they are common like a toyota camry here in Miami).. see and hear them every single time I leave the house. But I would wager that with high flow cats (or none at all) the car sounds much much better. 997 even with PSE really isnt great, but it has a lot more character than the 991.2. I've had turbo cars before with lame sounding exhaust that really came alive with a new downpipe and the cats removed.

Raspritz,

I'm diggin' your '69T, particularly in the Tangerine Orange. Did you do a full, frame-off full resto or ? I've got a '68 911L in the same Tangerine Orange that I bought from my uncle in '92, who bought it in '72 from the original buyer. I'm just wrapping up a 2-year total mechanical rebuild (engine, tranny, gearbox, electricals, suspension, etc.) which should wrap up just before Memorial Day. Can't wait to get it back on the road, as I'm sure you are as well. PLEASE post up some pics when you're done in the fall so we can all get a look at another awesome air-cooled 911

Here's a few pics of mine:

If it had to be 911 only - 991 Carrera S 7 speed manual or 997.2 Turbo PDK
