Something I've been debating. Currently clear ones on there, but with the black rims I think I might like it. Thoughts?

Yup, I'm a fan too and can't really think of a color they'd look bad on, especially the common. Porsche colors (red, white, silver, black, etc).

Some people have had issues removing the originals without damaging the clear coat (steaming them off seems to be the solution), so since mine had slightly yellowed, and didn't want to risk it, I just made a template with a large sheet of paper and the edge of a pencil, transferred that to some carbon fiber vinyl I had leftover from my 928 project, and applied them directly over the OEM clear ones. When I need to, I can just renew the CF ones by removing them from on top of the clear OEM ones and they now provide 150% more protection (the CF vinyl is a bit thinner than the OEM). I put some 303 on them to keep them from attracting dirt and make them easy to clean. Here are a few pics with the ADV1 wheels and the polished Champions.

I love them! They really protect the area from stone chips.

Not a bad idea. I have some vinyl lying around from a different project. I may try that.

Looks great on all the cars I've seen.

My car is PRG, and I don't think I've ever seen one on this color. I think it would look good, and have been contemplating doing it for a while, but would love to see a pic before I pull the trigger.

Take pic of car and then Photoshop the guard. That should give you a good idea.

The only time I think it doesn't look good is if the car has the large Carrera script down the side as it overlaps with the stone guard area a bit and in that case the clear is better. If it's just a door graphic that doesn't come to the front of the rear wheel well, then no issue. Just MHO though

IMO on a black car they just look like cloudy clear ones. Mine (clear) were cloudy and looked just like black matte. They were passable, but then they began to crack.

I took it to the dealer and a couple high-end body shops and they all told me they could try removing them with steam but wouldn't guarantee the clearcoat wouldn't be damaged, requiring a respray of the quarter panels.

Indeed that's what happened, clearcoat damage. Instead of a respray, I took it to a filmer who applied black ones and then overlaid them with 3M clear. Can't tell it's there.
