How many plan to eventually get into a 991?

Everything that needs to be said about that mess has already been said so I'm just attaching a picture of what's always been the best part of the 911. You can do a lot of things with a camera and different angles but there's no way you could make the tail of a 997 look this ridiculous no matter how hard you tried. Remove the badging and many would say they're looking at a Panamera.

And that rear end is even worse when the spoiler lifts up. That giant maw looks like you left your trunk open. It's just absolutely horrid. On the side mirrors on the side of the door. Sorry to beat a dead horse but damn.

No way I would be caught driving those bloated VW whales posted above. Just awful rear end.

+997 on the Rolex comment. Been wearing a simple submariner for years. It never fails me and it looks great whether I'm wearing a tuxedo or a bathing suit. Only time I take it off is to sleep and when I wrench on cars.

Yup, watch guy here, too. Have had all kinds, and still do, but Rolex sport models are as tough and timeless as the 911. My Sea Dweller 4000 is the best all-around watch I've ever owned.

I believe I am the only person on the planet who had an aircraft painted to match his watch.
True story.

I've just finished reading this thread and I'm sure the 993 guys are saying the same thing about the 997. Porsche ruined the 911. I would never drive such a horrid looking car.
On the 991 forum, the argument is between the 991.1 and the new tt 991.2. Most .1 owners have never driven the .2 but are absolutely certain that the NA engine is far superior and their cars will appreciate like the 993 because they are last NA 911's. Of course that is ridiculous. It's like saying a 997 is worth more than a comparable 991.
I don't really have a dog in this fight but I will say this. My present car is my 8th new Porsche since 1983. Yes Virginia, you read this correctly, 1983!!! Every car was the best at the time of purchase. Something else, every new model was better than the previous one. I now drive the 991.2 C2S and this car is the biggest upgrade of all my Porsches. It's far superior to my 13 C2S. My 991 was better than my 997 without a doubt. Porsche is a work in progress. It's a fifty year old car that is continuously being tweaked to make it better.
A senior engineer of Porsche was asked which 911 was the best. His answer was: the next one.
And finally, like that engineer, the best 911 is the 992.

Been awhile guys...
Hi,
I guess I should start off by saying I got gave up 3 Turbos, 2003 Coupe turbo (mary), 2007 Coupe turbo (jezzabel) and a 2004 cabriolet Turbo ... no name, for a 2014 Turbo S.
What a crime and a regret. PDK and larger and longer and so out of touch of any bonding or any working with a car was horrible. Yes, of course if was fast but so is a Cadillac or a escalade and there was no more pleasure in this!
I traded for a 2015 GT3.. beautiful but still no working with a car, no real connection.. I Don't Race Formula 1's! It's not a Porsche! Finally I traded for the 2014 50th anniversary and yeah it had the 430 hp and a 7 speed manual... it sucked!
What the heck has Porsche done! I finally bought a 2007 Carrera S with 70,000 miles on it and it's fan f...ing tastic! These were Porsches!
I'm waiting for a racing yellow 997 Turbo and I can't wait. Driving a car is what it's about for me... not having a huge clumk that is fast but so far out of any touch with any connection and simply a luxury car for old men so their wives can drive, or for new people that don't even know how to drive a manual... I guess.
Just had to put in I had them and they sucked. No offense... I did it too and I just tried to see the good points but It was like driving any car with an automatic.
I'm just accepting that since I can't buy the 911R since I didn't spend a million on one of the select few, that the only real Porsche is the 993, the 996 and the 997. Just opinion, but I feel deeply about how I'm getting mad at Porsche for leaving 'us' out. I already ordered the IPD plenum and the Y pipe and the silicone tubing and I'll probably do the GIAC and I got the Kline exhaust and I won't even get it till probably two week! It's at Porsche of Hilton Head being cleaned up first.

I wouldn't say that about a 997, nor with a 993, as I have also an '88 Carrera! It's just that the 991 is just too big while the 997 is still sized along with the Cayman and that's why I'm looking forward to a GT4

Fine watch road show
It's funny that this thread diverged to fine watch topic. Probably more suite at a car and watch ( oops coffee) morning some place else.
Wonder which topic(s) it will lead to next? Who has the nicest man purses!

Hmmm... Your collection is kind of all over the place. Definitely not as focused as your car "stable," lol. At least the LE BP matches your green car. I think an AP ROO Diver or JLC Navy SEALs Diving Alarm would complement the RS well.
Usually people who obsess about the mechanical minutiae of high-end sports cars can appreciate what goes into a well made timepiece. They are no less a representation of the very best that man can achieve, in terms of craftsmanship and engineering.

I am really enjoying the drive of my 2016 GTS so far. I would classify the engine feel and sound as magnifico. There is no other 991 I would be interested in because of the NA and manual transmission needs. This being said there are many days when I miss my 997.1 which I had for 10 years. Think carefully before you make the change...
