It's a public parking lot, so drivers can park wherever they choose to park. If the other driver didn't damage your car, then there's nothing more to say.

I understand the frustration; you parked away from other cars and then somebody parked close to you. That frustration is no reason to act out against another driver.

I wonder what his daughter's text history looks like from last weekend...

"omg my dad is freaking out about something at lowes. what a loser. i died my hair pink and pierced my throat and he still doesnt notice me, but he sure notices that stupid car"

On the plus side, OP took advantage of a "teachable moment" to help his child understand that when one is a one-percenter, one should ALWAYS be most concerned about one's possessions. Many of us would have taken the easy way out by backing up, letting the kid in, making a Helen Keller joke and moving on - but OP didn't shirk his duty representing the 1%. I can only hope he said something truly inspiring, like "the problem with this country, Constance Marie, is that these damn middle-class turds think they can park anywhere they want."

Thanks for keeping the fire burning, amigo!

Believe it or not, people will argue about it and entertain the troll.

Why TXSailor is upset: A truck parked close to him... even over the line a little. Yes, that's the reason TXSailor is upset..
Ahhhh, now I understand what made him upset although I still at a loss as to why. And thank you for the "troll thread" definition since to me "troll" is a creature from Norse mythology.

He didn't ding your car so I don't get it...

Had he dinged my car I would have calmly kicked a massive dent in the side of his and then had my insurance deal with the ding. Or more likely just fix it myself, since I'm pretty handy with touchpaint/wetsanding/compounding

Funny stuff

But you do know that lots of guys (pickups seem to be overly represented) like to park by guys in nice cars who park in the back forty just to get this kind of reaction out of pcar drivers....have been too many threads on this I think they stand by the front window of the store to watch as they never seem to come out of the store

Maybe get little business cards printed out to leave under the windshield wiper - big truck, little dick signed the porcupine you parked beside....

Talking

I've actually come out of places like Home Depot to find that people have SPIT on my car! WTF!

I've also had the fool who parks ridiculously close to my car so I can't get in (which I also park very far away)... they do it on purpose because there is no other logical reason to do something like that.

I've since adopted the best solution, one that will point out and equally **** off the fool that is trying to annoy you.

It's a piece of a paper with Mickey Mouse holding up a sign that appropriately conveys my thoughts on their parking job.

I think that gets the message across pretty well.

Here is a link to the image so all you can print out a few and keep it in the glove box for the appropriate occasions:

This is true - but generally those folks park on the driver-side to block ingress. This is someone who just parked next to the passenger side - so I doubt he was hanging out the garden shop hiding behind a pallet of begonias trying not to bust out laughing...

Funny, I have never found the need to keep a stack of obscene handouts in my car, and my car remains loogie-free. Maybe they're all sorry for me for driving a 996. I think I'll start leaving the window cracked so they can slip dollar bills into the car and contribute toward my new car fund...

My daughter can barely get in the car he is so close. I inspect my door and I don't see proof that he dinged me.

There were still 3-4 spots on the other side of him wide open.

I was pissed. I think if I had been alone I may have done something- but not sure what.

So- what would you do? What have you done? Had he dinged me- what would you do? I want to have ideas for the next time this happens.
I'm with you dude - and it has nothing to do with my Porsche. I'm in the "WTF is wrong with people?" camp regardless of what sort of thoughtless inconsiderate idiotic thing they do. I would feel the same way in my car or if I was driving a rental! But, as long as no dent and I can enter the car, I'd probably just try to contain my desire to blow up his truck and not let it otherwise ruin my day.

Or there's this:

I have also noticed that parking remotely is not the complete solution; you have to become "Zen" and fathom and seek out the undesirable parking spots...and this is more complicated as there is not always something obvious about them, nor are they intrinsicly undesirable (only on the surface) - just don't go with your first choice.

Ummm, I keep thinking about the clarification/definition of "a troll thread" that Philster gave me and now I can see that the OP may have just achieved his purpose.

Very foolish of us to continue fanning his fires!

Thanks for all the replies. Not a troll thread at all. Was I annoyed- yes. Did I inspect the car for a ding - yes. Did I freak out? No. I calmly drove off. I don't appreciate the daughter comments and view them wholly out of line.

Do I think it is reasonable to get a little mad when someone parks partially in my spot when many other spots are closer to the store and wide open- yes.

You want ideas for what to do next time?

Get in your car and go home seems to be the best idea offered thus far.

Would have called the police saying your daughter was kidnapped and give them the description and license place of the truck...that would have been fun
