as long as you have the Y cable and it has the 30 pin then it will work.

I have both the Suncoast y cable with the 30 pin and the Bovee, but something is the same. It doesn’t work. I even have the Navigation system, but no steering wheel controls. Maybe that is the difference.

I can't speak for the Bovee. But i can assure you that the CoolStream Pro works flawlessly. I have PCM with Nav and steering wheel controls but it doesn't make a difference. As long as you have the 30 Pin cable the CoolStream works like it should. Try turning your bluetooth of on your phone and once you car is running turn it on and see if it pairs. Just a thought.

Actually because of your comment I ordered the Coolstream through Amazon. It should be here tomorrow. Hopefully it works the way it should as the Bovee just isn’t any better than having an aux cable hooked up.

That is one thing I love about Amazon. Unfortunately I buy way too much stuff on Amazon. One of the two Bluetooth modules will be returned if not both of them. I just hope it works. I will keep everyone posted as I am sure others have had the same issue I have had. Then as I learn about the car I can pay it forward and help others out like you have helped me.

1) there are two CoolStream Pro mentioned here and on Amzon
VW
Amazon Amazon
Merc
Amazon Amazon
the Merc link is actually above as recommended.
Either work? what's the exact model purchased and confirmed to work with PCM 3.0

2) any use this and Bovee (1000 usually) and have comments as to which worked best or additional features of one not in the other?
I have the Bovee1000 and it works fine except 1/3 times the multifunction button (next track) don't work and take a long time to get started. 2/3 times seamless.

3) there is some discussion that adapter which have APTx have better sound quality
any thoughts/experience?

Not sure why CoolStream lists multiple cars. My Coolstream was for Audi/Mercedes... As long as you purchase the Coolstream that plugs into the 30pin adapter that works with our Porsche Y cable it should work. It works through the iPod interface with the PCM. I can't comment on the Bovee, but maybe someone can chime in that has one. End of the day i wanted something to stream music and still work with my handsfree calling. So far it works perfect. My sound quality is as good as any other bluetooth streaming i have in my newer Audi or Mercedes that i own. But then again i mostly listen to the motor redlining ...

I have the VW Coolstream Pro coming today so I will post if that works any better than the Bovee 1000. With the Bovee I have tried several ways and even am getting their tech support involved to get it to work properly. So far on the iPod setting I have no volume control and it displays nothing on the PCM screen. When I turn it to AUX, although nothing is plugged into the AUX jack, it plays and I have volume control, but no display on the PCM. I should know something more tonight and I will post if anything works.

That's odd, I wonder if you got a defective unit? Mine works and have no issue with volume. What phone are you using? With an android phone, it won't display the music title playing, but volume, etc works normally. If you use an iPhone, it will display the music titles. Are you using the ipod cable connected to the Bovee 1000? I know that Bovee makes another unit, called the Bove 3000 that connects to the Aux input. Is it possible that you have the Bovee 3000 connected to Aux rather than the Bovee 1000 connected to ipod cable?

I am using a iPhone 8 and it is a Bovee 1000 for sure with the Porsche Y cable from SunCoast Porsche. The cable is plugged into the USB and the iPod connection in the car and the other end plugged into the Bovee 1000 with the old 30 pin connector. Maybe I did get a bad unit or maybe there is some setting somewhere that nobody knows about that allows the volume to change and information to display on the PCM. I guess when I get the CoolStream Pro today I will see if that is any better. Same principle and everything as the Bovee 1000.

I guess what is surprising is that the volume **** on steering wheel is controlling the PCM amp and really not Bovee or iPhone. Once the Bluetooth connection is established changing the volume from steering is not a signal going back through BT/Bovee/iPhone.

The assignable button on MF steering wheel or PREV / NEXT on PCM is a different issue where you are trying to get a command back to the iPhone.

Coolstream Pro acts exactly like Bovee 1000. No difference. It doesn’t work. Those who have either that display songs on the PCM.

Do you have the steering wheel controls?
Do you have navigation?

I have navigation and do not have the steering wheel controls.
Trying to figure out why it will not display anything.
Thanks.
