Default Rim Protector on Bridgestone S-04

I'm in the need of new tires (current ones are 5 year old Bridgestone RE050A with 11,000 miles) for my 4 GTS and thinking about getting Bridgestone S-04s.

Do the Bridgestone S-04 have a rim protector like the RE050A? Does anyone has a side shot that they could post? Thanks!

Rim "protector." Protection from what? A piece of rubber won't stop curb rash.

Yes, it does. I installed these tires recently (due to the shortage of Michelin PSS) and was pleased to see a nice protection for the wheel. Of course, if you come really hard, your wheel will be damaged. However, that lip should protect for most mishaps.

Thanks everyone! That looks great.

I had good luck with rim protectors baling me out, but I'm generally trying to watch out for not getting too close to the curb. So when I did it was just by a little bit and the rim protector did its job.

I have these tires on a couple of my cars and they have a very strong side wall, when I pulled the boulder weight 20" Msport wheels from my BMW 650 and put these tires on with lightweight 19" wheels it made an amazing difference in the car the car handled.

If your tires are stretched, rim protector flanges won't help.

Ask me how I know.

I have DWSs in OEM sized 295/35 on my 19x11" Carrera Classics, and the tire is so stretched, the flanges do nothing.

I'd wait. I heard they're coming out with a new design with built-in rim protector protectors.
