No one has the MY02's on their 997...? I know its not very popular but aren't they one of the lightest OEM wheels out there? And are they forged or cast...?coould someone photoshop them?...well, just thought i'd ask...i'd really like to mount them on my X51 but would have to buy a set of tires, have them polished and powder coated, since if i do like them once they are on that is how i would want them finished, and contrary to my popular misconception of myself i am not made of money and there is a chance they just wouldn't look right and then of course i could mount them on my 964 cuz i know i like the look on that car, but would the tires used on the 997 be the same ones i would use for the 964...? But wait, let me check, maybe i really AM made of money....whoops, nah, still not... At least i do have a set, hmmm this is a good Q for rennlist...
Have not seen them on a 997 but yes indeed all the autocross guys I talk to assure me they are the one to get. Which for them all they care about is weight. But it does not hurt that they also look great and are easy to clean. Why powder coat? They'll look great on your Macadamia as-is.
As far as I know nobody has made a true forged wheel since the Fuchs. They all say they do. If you find one let me know. But every one I've looked into, they start as a disk which is flow-formed to make the rims. Flow-forming is akin to forging so they call them forged. But the disk, which forms the body of the wheel, is pressure cast at best and then machined. Because the spokes are machined instead of forged (like the Fuchs) they need more thickness. Hence they all weigh more than a true forged wheel.
Nobody ever will make a true all-forged wheel again. The dies are too expensive, that is why all the Fuchs are the same except for rim width, they need to make a lot to cover depreciation. Today that will never sell in a market convinced everyone has to have something different. But again, if you think you find one, let me know.
I used MY02s on 18" 8x10 for my winter set up. The best hidden treasure is actually Carrera IIIs in wide body C4 offsets (ET51 rear) for 8x11 set up (good for 305 tire). They look very similar, light, good looking, and true BBS Porsche quality. Fits perfect for NB cars flashed to fenders.
rereading your post, can't conclude whether or not you said this is a forged wheel or not...or is it a flow formed... thanks for the reply, and please clear this up for me if you can...cheers,

These are also sometimes referred to as the Carrera Lightweights (LW). Had a set on my 928 Spyder, but the offsets weren't quite right, so I sold them. Nice and light though. Seems like the Carrera IIIs are more popular, but the wheels are very similar in overall look (IIs have the pointier profile on the spoke face) but finding pics of Carrera IIIs should give you a good idea of what they'd look like.
they look great on the spyder, though can't really see how offsets look...dam... they look great...though i had the chance to mount a set on my 997 today and it is depressing to me to see how they just don't work...love my 997 and love the my02's, not together...the good news is they DO look bueno on the 964 and so i do have a place for the 02's after all...on they go...!

Whether using a mobile or your PC via the web, the easiest way is with the button that looks like a mountain with a sun over it. It's in both the quick response box and the "Go Advanced" message box.
Before clicking on the button, put the cursor where you want the photos to go in your message. Once you click this you can browse your phone or PC, select multiple photos as once and it will upload each one - they can also be any size so you don't have to reduce the file size for this to work - it will right size them automatically, which is the big time saver. Once they all get to 100% you can rearrange the order by dragging and droppping and add captions, just don't forget to hit the green "Insert" button at the top right which is what puts the links for the files you uploaded to the Rennlist server into your post. Hope that helps.
